Warning: Potential spoilers for Chapter 1118 of One Piece

In many respects, One Piece chapter 1118 was truly amazing, and fans were treated to some of the most amazing story turns in the entire series. Fans didn’t anticipate much fighting in the remaining chapters of the novel as Egghead Island proceeded to come to a close. But to ensure their safe departure from the island, Eiichiro Oda has chosen to give the Straw Hat Pirates one last major battle against the Elders.

Because of this, One Piece chapter 1118 was extremely significant in that aspect. While Luffy was not the only one to use the power of Gear 5 again, it was his decision to do so. Bonney, who has now fully manifested the power of Nika, joined him in harnessing the strength of Gear 5, making her one of the strongest characters in the entire series. There are currently two Nika in One Piece, officially.

Bonney never possessed the Nika fruit’s abilities, in contrast to Luffy. Bonney and the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika are not connected in any way. That does not, however, imply that she is unable to make use of this ability. The Toshi Toshi no Mi, Bonney’s personal Devil Fruit, is what ties her to Nika.

The Distorted Future ability is what makes this Devil Fruit so powerful. This is one of the most amazing abilities because it basically lets Bonney see any future she wants for herself or someone else and make it come true.

Fans have previously witnessed Bonney use the Gomu Gomu no Mi’s power. She had no idea that this Devil Fruit even existed at that point. But Bonney knew from Kuma’s stories that Nika had a stretchy physique and battled with amazing freedom.

However, some fans were not happy with this development as they believed that the Nika power should only remain exclusive to Luffy. Fans took to X to express their disappointment, however, other fans came to the defense of Eiichiro Oda, claiming that the creator is doing this for his fun and enjoyment.

Another X user even claimed that Bonney has more reasons to be connected to Nika than Luffy, given that she was aware of Nika way before our adorably lost protagonist. Another fan argued that the Gear 5 form is the embodiment of freedom, so it should not be restricted to just one character.

How Powerful Is Bonney’s Nika Form?

Naturally, Bonney will not be able to transform into Luffy’s Nika form as powerfully. To start, Bonney’s base strength isn’t as strong as Luffy’s, primarily since she is only twelve years old. Her physical power needs to increase significantly before she can undergo the Nika transformation.

Second, and perhaps most significantly, Bonney will probably be limited in how long she can use Nika’s abilities. As Bonney ages or gains strength, this is probably going to increase. With the use of this power, fans will undoubtedly witness her improvement, and as she reaches adulthood, she will undoubtedly go on to rank among the strongest characters in the entire series.

Moreover, fans know that Bonney does not have access to Haki. Gear 5 won’t be as strong as it can be without this power. But even in the absence of these powers, it is utterly terrifying and, given the strength of the Nika fruit, might possibly harm an Elder.

To witness what she can really accomplish with this ability and how far she can push this change would be nothing short of amazing. She may learn how to control this transformation and implement a suitable change on the battlefield with Luffy by her side. The Drums of Liberation will now be doubled as a result of the presence of two Nika, making the Iron Giant more powerful than before.
