The popular cop franchise Beverly Hills is back after almost 30 years. The much anticipated fourth installment Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F is planned to further the legacy of the predecessors while also bridging the gap between the future and present.

The original movie became the highest-grossing American film in the year 1984. In the new one, we will have Eddie Murphy reprising the role of Axel Foley as before. Murphy has successfully made the streetwise Detroit cop quite iconic.

As Murphy gets back into play again after being the favorite cop, it is inevitable that they will be taken back into a timeslip of nostalgia. Along with him, there will be other familiar faces in the upcoming film. Judge Reinhold will take up the role of Lieutenant Billy Rosewood, while Paul Reiser, Bronson Pinchot, and John Ashton will play the roles of their original characters.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt joins the franchise as Detective Bobby Abbott. Abbott is expected to add madness, as he will be Foley’s new partner. Foley, as we know, can be unpredictable at times, and Abbott will be the more organized one. Known for his dramatic and comic roles, Gordon-Levitt will give creative freshness to the series.

In an interview with Empire, Gordon-Levitt revealed his character’s unique relationship with Foley.

“This character is a bit strait-laced – I am an actual Beverly Hills cop, whereas Axel Foley is a cop from Detroit who finds himself in Beverly Hills – but he’s not a simple straight man. I also get my licks in. I wouldn’t be living up to this crazy opportunity if I wasn’t going to have a few myself. We got to do some really fun stuff.”

According to Netflix, in the movie, Axel has changed over the years and so did Beverly Hills. Bruckheimer said,

“Detroit is a much different city than Los Angeles and especially Beverly Hills. He still has the same kind of wonderment at the things you see walking down Rodeo Drive.”

In an interview with Empire, Bruckheimer said that he expects a solid performance from Murphy who is back in action in his most iconic role. He said,

“Anytime he walks on set, you never know what you’re going to get. And it’s always pretty brilliant. Every day he’s there throws you back to the ’80s.”
