The actor is set to appear in Ridley Scott’s Gladiator II alongside Pedro Pascal and Paul Mescal. Quinn is also going to make his MCU debut as Johnny Storm, a.k.a. Human Torch, in the upcoming The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Stranger Things’ success has helped Quinn to establish himself as one of the most skilled actors in the industry, but there is one aspect of being an actor that he does not like, which is relatable to Robert Pattinson, Jennifer Lawrence, and more.

Stranger Things actor Joseph Quinn says he is not chasing any echelon of stardom

In a recent interview with L’Officiel, Joseph Quinn, who rose to prominence with his work on Netflix’s Stranger Things as Eddie Munson, shared the downside of being an actor. He shared,

It’s so loathsome to fucking talk about. But yeah, when a project that you’re doing is out there, then I think you’re just, sadly, these days—on more people’s telephones, so they’re more aware of you. Then the next thing comes out, and then it’s fine again. It goes up and down.

During the conversation, the actor noted that he is not chasing any particular echelon of stardom, adding that it’s very much about the opportunities that interest him. Quinn added that with time he is trying to accept the fact that he has a choice, which he describes as ‘luxury’. The actor who is all set to appear as Geta in Gladiator II mentioned that the choice will come and go and vary, but he surrenders to the idea that there is very little that he can control. Quinn shared,

With some discipline and some discernment, I can maybe tailor and foster the opportunities to my taste a little more now, which is very exciting.

Talking about his involvement in the upcoming Gladiator II, he said that he watched the original movie when he was 12 or 13 and remembers being spellbound by it. He added that Ridley Scott is very good as a filmmaker, adding that he was aware that something wouldn’t sit right with the people in the future, hinting at the backlash Gladiator II received initially. He goes on to agree that the story is a masterpiece and that at times it’s better to leave these things alone.

However, there was no way the actor was going to turn down the role. He concluded that he feels grateful for doing his job and working with people who inspire him and challenge him.

Joseph Quinn joins Robert Pattinson and Jennifer Lawerence on the list of ‘disliking being famous’

A Quite Place: Day One actor is the latest one to join the famous list of actors who do not like being famous. Robert Pattinson, who rose to fame after he starred as Edward Cullen in the Twilight series, did not like the attention he got, as he expressed in an interview with Spanish GQ,

People don’t realize how lonely you are. In any case, I feel fortunate because success didn’t reach me very young; at least I had the opportunity to have a life before. When you become famous, it’s easy for some people to hate you just because you’re famous. That’s why sometimes you beat yourself up.

With time and growing up, Pattinson was able to finally come to his terms and didn’t care enough about how people felt. Actress Jennifer Lawrence, who is regarded as one of the most talented actresses in the industry and is known for being goofy, didn’t want to be famous. In her interview with Vogue in 2013, she admitted that she is not okay with being famous.

It’s as simple as that. I am just a normal girl and a human being, and I haven’t been in this long enough to feel like this is my new normal. I’m not going to find peace with it.

In speaking to Fabulous (via Marie Claire), the actress noted that she is comfortable with people who know her, like her close friends, who have known her forever. She revealed that there is a kind of sadness that happens when an artist looks into someone’s eyes and realizes that the other one is looking at the artist in a certain way, which is not them. It makes her feel weird.

However, over the years, she has settled down with the fact that she is always going to be famous and one of the most admirable actresses. Similarly, Joseph Quinn, who will be starring in Marvel’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps, will always be famous. One of the reasons is his exceptional work, which makes filmmakers want to cast him in movies, and the audience loves to go back to watch his work.

Gladiator II is scheduled for release in November 2024.
