The rap industry has been on fire for quite some time now. From Drake’s feud with Kendrick Lamar to the apology video Diddy posted on his official Instagram account, fans of rap artists have not been able to catch a break and Nicki Minaj’s arrest in Amsterdam is a recent addition to the list of troubles in rap paradise.

Minaj’s arrest certainly shocked and saddened millions of fans across the world, but it was especially sad for her fans in Manchester since the singer could not show up for her concert there. However, many might not know that this was not the first time she had a brush with the law.

Nicki Minaj is one of the most popular rappers. After gaining recognition for the three mixtapes she released between 2007 and 2009, she released her debut album Pink Friday in 2010. She has been a trailblazer since then and is often referred to as the ‘Queen of Rap’ for her musical versatility and animated rap flow.

Much like any other person who has risen to worldwide stardom, she too has a past, and parts of it are not necessarily good. Back in 2021, she revealed a part of this in a now-deleted Instagram post (via theneighbourhoodtalk on Instagram), in which she wrote about that one time the New York City Police Department arrested her for criminal possession of a weapon with intent to use.

Minaj posted a mugshot of herself when she was arrested and explained the incident that landed her in trouble with the law in the caption. She wrote:

It took me years to [be] able to look at things like this. Criminal possession of a weapon with intent to use. I did use it tho. This is so inspiring now looking back. The girl was leaking blood and spent days in the hospital. The word on the street was that I was gonna be deported.

Further, she wrote that she was “on the run” and felt like she was in a “ghetto movie” when she went to live with her aunt in Brooklyn after hiding her car. The mugshot she posted suggests that the incident happened in 2003.

The Anaconda singer is currently on her Pink Friday 2 World Tour. Unfortunately, she was arrested in Amsterdam for allegedly “carrying drugs” and released hours later (via PEOPLE). Consequently, her Co-op Live Arena show in Manchester was postponed.

After reaching Manchester, she posted on X to reveal what happened and apologize to her fans for not being able to do the show. She wrote:

Please please please accept my deepest & most sincere apologies.

The Super Freaky Girl singer also wrote that this arrest was all part of a conspiracy to stop her from performing in her concert. She has assured her fans that she will make up for this loss and even do something extra to compensate for it.
