The Covid pandemic had caused quite a number of delays and many movies and TV shows got postponed. 2021, proved to be a great year for the entertainment industry with all the delayed shows and movies finally being released.
There have been many shows that were released and made their way to our homes through the screens that it became hard to choose our favorites. With Marvel releasing all big guns on Disney+ and many returning with their new seasons, few great ones actually got ignored by the viewers. Here are some Tv Shows that have great potential.
1. Only Murders in the Building – Stream on Hulu
If you love a pretty great murder mystery, this is the show that will definitely get you hooked. It is based on three strangers who share an obsession with “true crime” and find themselves wrapped in one. When a death occurs in their Upper West Side apartment building, the trip suspects the murder and employs their precise knowledge of true crime to investigate the truth.
It starts getting intense as they realize that a killer might be living among them and they race to decipher who the killer is! And a second season is coming! It has some great music as well. There are many jokes, twits, turns, friendships, and a lot of cameos. The cast has done a spectacular job.
2. Reservation Dogs – Stream on FX
The series Reservation Dogs comes from filmmakers Taika Waititi and Sterlin Harjo and is about four Indigenous teenagers who are longing to flee their Oklahoma reservation for the exotic land of California; however, first, they should secure the money for the getaway.
As they plot their escape, the viewers get an intimate look into their lives, and it is both good and bad. They are a part of the robust community and they also lack responses and opportunities. And of course, they got something on the Tv which has been missing for a long time aka Indigenous humor. The show also how badly Native people have been treated but it also makes you laugh about it.
3. The Underground Railroad – Stream on Prime Video
The Underground Railroad is a show by the filmmaker Barry Jenkins and has an exquisite, dreamy, and semi-exhausting 10 part adaptation of Colson Whitehead’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel. However, it is not exactly a binge-watch since most of the episodes are over an hour and the series doesn’t have a “momentum” since it is deepening the air of tragedy.
After escaping a Georgia plantation, Cora boards on a train which embarks her on a trip where she seeks true freedom, but that’s not easy as she is also being hunted by a notorious slave catcher. The series is filled with unforgettable imagery- landscapes. The series is not exactly an easy watch, but the series is definitely an unforgettable one, which you might not wanna miss.
4. Midnight Mass – Stream on Netflix
Mike Flanagan’s recent limited series on Netflix aka Midnight Mass is a horror tale of Catholicism and vampires and is an examination of the attraction in the tradition that insists it has all the answers.
The Mass is conducted at midnight with prayers and scripture readings followed by Communion, Hamish Linklater did an amazing job as the priest who leads his flock towards a brutal and shocking truth that will destroy their town.
5. Maid – Stream on Netflix
Maid stars Margaret Qualley as Alex, who is a young mother turning to domestic work after leaving her abusive partner. She has no money or degree and neither has much family support and Andie MacDowell (Margaret’s real-life mom) plays Alex’s bipolar artist mom and her dad is almost never there.
She needs to be strong and do her best for her daughter Maddy. It has received an IMDb rating of 8.4 and the show can’t be missed out on
