It is that time of the year again when people love staying at home in their blankets and binging their favourite holiday movies. Pop base, a page on X, started a post on the social media platform to see which movie people liked the least. In the Christmas-themed poll, the options included The Grinch, Home Alone, Polar Express, and Elf. 42% of people were comfortable with eliminating Elf, with 37% voting for Polar Express and 11% disliking The Grinch. It only makes sense since Home Alone is the OG Christmas movie.

Elf, starring Will Ferrell, Zooey Deschanel, and Peter Dinklage, is a classic 2003 movie with all the holiday vibes and feels. The comedy movie is directed by Jon Favreau. The plot of the movie features an elf named Buddy who goes to New York from the North Pole to find his real father. Due to a childhood mix-up, the infant gets sent to the North Pole and grows up feeling out of place. Evidently, many people feel Elf does not hit the mark quite like Home Alone and The Grinch.

The latter ones are quintessential holiday movies that have become a part of many household rituals and traditions. Watching Home Alone marks the beginning of the cosy holiday season for many fans. On the other hand, it is seen that people believe Elf is an overrated movie that deserves to go out of the running. However, at the time of release, the movie garnered $225M in box office collection, deemed a super hit.

The Polar Express Comes In Second With 37%

The second movie to receive negative comments is The Polar Express. Shoddy animation and emotionless faces in the movie make it one of the most widely disliked movies. The 2004 Christmas-themed movie was directed by Robert Zemeckis and gained only a 6.6/10 rating. After re-releasing a couple of years later, the movie grossed $314 million worldwide.

Most people found The Polar Express boring, lengthy and even depressing. During the holiday season, people want to watch something uplifting and humorous. The Polar Express received bad reviews from critics and the audience alike. It is unsurprising that people are comfortable with eliminating The Polar Express from the running.
