4 Reasons Vegeta is on the Verge of Surpassing Goku to Become the Greatest Saiyan Warrior after Gohan
The question of who is the stronger fighter between Goku and Vegeta has been a long-standing debate ever since Vegeta was introduced in the series. The rivalry between these two characters has split the Dragon Ball fandom in two, who always fight over who is the best among them.
However, ever since Ultra Instinct was introduced in the series, this debate started falling in Goku’s favor. Fans believe that with a godly power like that, Vegeta won’t be able to surpass Goku. But they overlook Vegeta’s determination, which always helps him get stronger and surpass limits. There are several ways in which Vegeta has shown himself to be stronger than Goku, and we’ll explore some of them.
1. Great Combat Power & Incredible Technique
Since Vegeta was young, he has displayed extraordinary power compared to other top Saiyan warriors and his royal lineage. He’s also said to have been stronger than his father, King Vegeta, ever since he was a baby. Even King Vegeta proudly declared that Vegeta surpassed all previous Saiyan records.
Vegeta himself mentioned that he learned to fight entirely on his own, without any teachers, which shows his exceptional talents. Goku is a combat prodigy who learned extensively as a young child and continued to effortlessly pick up new techniques. His innate skill in battle and strong determination pushed his power to remarkable levels.

However, despite being exceptionally strong by human standards, Goku’s power was considered weak even among low-level Saiyans. This was clear when he was outmatched by his older brother Raditz, who was considered a mid-class warrior himself.
In the movie, Dragon Ball Super: Superheroes, Goku and Vegeta are portrayed as almost equal in power, but Vegeta is depicted as a slightly better combatant, partly because Goku was portrayed as less intelligent than usual in the anime.
2. Coldness in combat vs Goku’s Trusting nature
Vegeta’s coldness always gives him an upper hand over Goku. We have seen this many times in the series where Goku shows mercy to his opponents, which leads to him getting into more trouble later on.
For instance, in the fight with Moro, Goku could have easily defeated Moro after transforming into Ultra Instinct, but his mercy towards the villain almost led to Earth being destroyed. On the other hand, Vegeta doesn’t show a bit of mercy to his opponents, which always helps him in his fights, like the one with Granolah.
3. Mental Training
Throughout the series, we have always seen Vegeta training by himself, whether it may be an intense training regiment in the hyperbolic chamber, or just simply staring at the sky. All this training helps him to get stronger and find a good strategy to defeat his opponent.

Like in the Moro arc, he quickly made a decision to visit Planet Yadrat, as he knew they might have some technique that could help him defeat Moro. Even Whis once mentioned that Vegeta could never learn Ultra Instinct because he thinks too much while fighting his opponent, while Goku just moves on his own. However, all this also helps him to think of a better strategy to win the fight.
4. Ultra Ego
In the Granolah The Survivor Saga, Vegeta might have finally emerged as stronger than Goku. Vegeta, usually seen as second to Goku, had a moment where he became the more powerful Saiyan. This happened because of a powerful transformation called Ultra Ego.
Goku and Vegeta always try to outdo each other. This saga showed that Vegeta doesn’t always have to be in Goku’s shadow. Although Goku might introduce a new powerful form soon, during their battles with Granolah, Vegeta definitely got the attention. We’re not sure if Vegeta will keep this new strength, but at that time, he was the top Saiyan.
