When Twilight, a master spy is given a mission that requires him to have a daughter and a wife, he unwillingly forms a temporary family to help him. While the family may seem normal to an outsider, they are quite the bunch, with the father being a spy, the wife being an assassin, and the daughter being a psychic.

The anime, which is animated by CloverWorks and Wit Studio is breathtaking to watch, with its visuals being smooth and vibrant.

Despite sounding like a serious setting, Spy x Family is very similar to Sakamoto Days and has moments that can make a viewer laugh when they see the characters have a wholesome moment and cry they learn something heart-breaking about the family.

The family bonds over several experiences and the transformation of Loid from a spy who only cares about his mission into a family man who cares for his daughter and loves his wife is just too precious.

2. The Yakuza’s Guide to Babysitting is too heartwarming

Being a Yakuza is tough. It needs one to be loyal to the boss, and be tough on the streets. Kirishima Toru was ready for the life of a Yakuza, and he was pretty good at it too. But what he never expected was for him to become a babysitter.

Kirishima, much like Taro from Sakamoto Days is a hardened criminal and a Yakuza enforcer for the Sakuragi family is surprised when his boss asks him to take care of his daughter, Yaeka.

Both Kirishima and Yaeka are opposed to this idea, with Yaeka asking him to stay away from her, and Kirishima agreeing to it. But as the anime progresses, Kirishima attends Yaeka’s school as her guardian, and this causes the both of them to become friends.

The more time Kirishima spends with the little girl, the more open he becomes to ideas like gentleness and caring.

The Yakuza’s Guide to Babysitting is extremely heartwarming, and the way a hardened criminal transforms himself into a caring individual is reminiscent of Sakamoto Days.

3. Onizuka might be erratic, but he’s a great teacher

To become a teacher, having a degree and being the leader of a rowdy biker gang is very important. Wait, what was the last part again?

Eikichi Onizuka is not your conventional teacher. The man used to be a delinquent and his teaching methods are unorthodox and often involve his students getting into embarrassing situations.

His language is unprofessional, and his school’s administration hates him. But one thing that no one can deny is that Onizuka is a great teacher who cares dearly for his students, just like Taro from Sakamoto Days cares for his comrades.

While his initial motivation for wanting to become a teacher is sleazy (he likes being around young teenage girls), he transforms into a caretaker who cares for students at their lowest points and helps them out most sincerely.

He tells his students that if someone had guided him the right way in his youth, he could have been better, which is why he is guiding them to the best of his abilities. What more can a student want from their teachers?

5. The Devil is a Part-Timer is an unexpected entry

Not even Satan can escape the classic Japanese hustle. The Devil is a Part-Timer follows the story of Maou, also known in the magical world of Ente Isla, as Satan. A teleportation spell causes him, and his trusted companion Alciel to end up in Japan, where they lose their magical powers and have no way to go back home.

They soon find out that they need money to survive in this harsh materialistic world, and so begins the devil’s hustle to earn money.

The anime, while being in a completely different genre, shares a similarity with Sakamoto Days, where a legendary being lets go of his power to take part in the mundaneness of life, and ends up enjoying it more than his past.

5. Noragami has it all

Wanna get some of your chores done? Call Yato. This god will do any sort of job for the cheap price of 5 yen.

Noragami follows Yato or Yatogami as he tries to become a well-known and popular god. The series resembles Sakamoto Days very closely, with it offering a story full of quirky humor, intense action, heartwarming moments, and well-written characters.

Noragami in addition also deals with the concept of reinventing oneself and trying to right the wrongs they committed in the past. Whether it be Taro reinventing himself to become a family man, or Yato fighting to reinvent himself as a god of hope, both stories contain strong-willed protagonists.

As Part 1 of Sakamoto Days draws to a close, and with its second season in jeopardy, these 5 anime will provide the perfect entertainment to you. Each of the series mentioned above is amazing in its own right and has a sense of resemblance to the beloved Sakamoto Days. So tell you friend that you”’ be busy binge-watching them and have a great time.
