As charming and as lovable Steve Martin’s Charles-Haden Savage has showed up in Only Murders in the Building, the character quite had a sad past. Over a period of ten episodes, Oliver, Charles, and Mabel echoed the personal issues that they were dealing with. While Oliver failed to have a healthy relationship with his son, Mabel had a secret associated with Tim Kono. And likewise his friends, Charles was also suffering from some personal life issues.

Despite everything that happened with and around the stars, it is quite difficult to ignore the sad part associated with Charles. While he was perhaps one of the most successful stars from New York City, he was apparently lonely. If he wouldn’t have his new friends and a podcast, his story would have walked on a very sad path.

Her name was Emma, he echoes. Charles did pretty much everything to impress her. But still, Emma started getting bored of Charles and as a result, she abandoned him on their anniversary.

The Loss Of His Ex’s Daughter

In one of the episodes in season 1, Charles is seen making omelets and throwing them into the bin until a neighbor shows up echoing that it reminded him of Lucy. Right after hearing that name, viewers could see a sudden pain on Charles’ face. Lucy was not an ex but the daughter of her ex. Charles used to make omelets for her and that is how they developed a bond between them. But apparently, everything ended when Emma took Lucy away.

People Were Not Fond Of Him

Considering the type of person Charles is; people were not really fond of him. In fact, one of his neighbors used to show him the middle finger continuously without any specific reason. The building secretary despised Charles because he was not really a good tipper. Additionally, people remained rude to him as they never used to reply to anything during his random conversations.

While Charles was spectacular in acting, he grew up old to fit in the current world.
