With the release of the Tomb Raider King anime, the series’ popularity has grown even further. Fans are absolutely in love with the protagonist, Seo Joo-Heon. But to understand his primary goal in the storyline, we must first know about TKBM and Kwon Tae-Joon. Both are essentially the series’ primary antagonists, with the former being a major corporate organisation and the latter serving as its chairman.

But what pushed Joo-Heon to seek revenge against them with such determination? Here’s everything you need to know before proceeding with the anime.

What Is TKBM & Who Is Kwon Tae-Joon?

To understand what TKBM is, you must first know about relics. Relics are the foundation of Tomb Raider King’s power system. They are found inside mysterious tombs that suddenly appear around the world. To retrieve those relics, several organizations gather teams of tomb raiders and compensate them accordingly.

So essentially, tomb raiding has become a massive business. And, out of every major tomb-raiding organization, TKBM is currently the largest and most successful. Especially thanks to Seo Joo-Heon, who initially worked under TKBM, the organization managed to monopolize the market with powerful mythological relics. And as it turns out, Kwon Tae-Joon is the CEO and chairman of TKBM!

What Is the Main Objective of TKBM?

So far, TKBM has been quite successful with its main objective; at least that’s how the series introduces the organization. Their goal remains the same, though: to further solidify their stronghold on the relic business and let no other organization stand in their way. Now that sounds absolutely corrupt, right? Well, it actually is. After all, by harvesting every single relic for themselves, they turn latecomers and ordinary people into mere pawns. In the end, they get nothing.

What Is Seo Joo-Heon’s Relationship With TKBM?

Interestingly, the company chairman, Kwon Tae-Joon, assumed that Seo Joo-Heon and his teammates could become a threat to their business. Why? Because they were too talented and dangerous. Despite eliminating most of TKBM’s toughest competitors, such as Jin Chae Won and Keira Clark, and raising their reputation to the global #1 spot, he thought taking Joo-Heon out of the picture would be the better option. This makes TKBM one of the worst fictional organisations in anime.

Therefore, during one of the relic exploration missions, TKBM betrayed and left Joo-Heon for dead. However, for the sake of the plot, he later comes back as an even greater force to haunt them. Seo Joo-Heon gets an opportunity to regress back in time and start from a point where the organization had yet to become powerful, with prior knowledge of everything about the company.

Now, in the current timeline, Joo-Heon’s only goal is to take revenge on this corrupt organization and absolutely tear its corporate empire down from the inside. He is sent 15 years into the past, before the tombs fully emerge. So now, he can simply raid the tombs before news of their emergence spreads and hoard all the relics for himself. Certainly sounds about right.

So with that premise, you are off to go and watch Tomb Raider King.

The Tomb Raider King anime is currently available to watch on Crunchyroll.
