Being a theatre kid who moved around a lot in his childhood, Sebastian Stan always had an edge over others. As many kids his age chose to remain in a safe space of familiarity, Stan continued to push his boundaries and step out of his comfort zone. He was raised by a single mother who chose to move to America from Vienna after she fell in love with a man.

Initially, this decision enraged Stan and made him resistant to any change, but gradually he understood how the change was going to mold him and his future choices. As he found his true passion in acting and stepping into different roles, Stan understood what he can truly do best. Moreover, an inspirational actor in the industry impacted him to a larger extent as he shared in an interview with GQ,

Watching Christian Bale do The Fighter and watching him do Batman and Vice and The Machinist… He was a guy that, to me, could have made very conventional choices because he’s very good at any of it. But then he’s trying these things.

Stan waited for his moment to shine and is basking in the glory of his versatile skill.

Even though it took a lot of prep, Stan is thankfully satisfied with his Donald Trump portrayal for The Apprentice. From his childhood experiences to Bale’s unyielding inspiration, Stan had a lot to work with. In the end, he had to strike the right balance between playing a character and making a mockery of the same. He revealed,

It’s a balance between having the familiarity without it becoming sort of a schtick. There is a small window of time where you are going through the impersonation phase, because you’ve got to get through that in order to come out the other end. There is a mechanical, technical piece to it, and that comes from actually studying a person. I’ve always been good at watching people.

The actor was finally able to play the character without overdoing it and just enough for people to see the resemblance. The first look of the movie and the trailers were well-received, reassuring fans of the Winter Soldier’s ability to remain unwavering in the face of the toughest of challenges.

The Apprentice hits theatres on October 11, 2024.
