When a sitcom pilot episode is aired, the entire cast and crew hold their breath to see how it all turns out. Either it could all be a waste of time or the pilot actually takes off and paves the path for ultimate success. The main cast from Seinfeld including Jerry Seinfeld and Julia Louis-Dreyfus particularly defined the sitcom era with their on-point quips and comments.
Even though it’s not a popularity contest, NBC’s Seinfeld does have an edge over the others. Fans still rewatch the shows to revel in the comfort they provide no matter how many years have passed.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus recalls a time when she wasn’t as famous as she expected
Only one exceptional actress could seamlessly cross over the genres from hearty comedy to twisted villainy, and that is Julia Louis-Dreyfus. Her most recent entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe was unexpected, to say the least. However, it was the pathbreaking Seinfeld show that brought her into the mainstream and helped her become this popular.
However, there was a time when Dreyfus was not as famous as she would have liked. And the reality check that brought about this realization was not pretty either. In an interview with Katie Couric, Dreyfus recalled a time when she and Jerry Seinfeld understood the levels of their popularity,
I will tell you something funny. A couple years in, the four of us as a cast were in New York and we just shot the cover of Rolling Stone and so we shot it here and so we thought oh here let’s all go out to dinner and we’ll sit on the sidewalk and people are gonna freak out that we’re all four sitting there. So we went to this restaurant we sat down not one person, that was a nice slap on the wrist. Actually a homeless person came by but they were just looking for money and that’s the truth.
Seems like Dreyfus and the cast were too confident over their massive popularity and were expecting hordes of Seinfeld fans to line up for pictures and autographs. However, that’s when they knew that they still had a long way to go. Nevertheless, nobody can question the popularity of the cast of the sitcom even in today’s day and age. The younger generation keeps stumbling upon the show and bingeing it till they are satisfied.
Will Julia Louis-Dreyfus be in Thunderbolts*?
Yes, the Veep actress will next be seen in Marvel’s Thunderbolts*. She will reprise her role as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine. Dreyfus was first introduced in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier and she has further appeared in Black Widow and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Valentina or Val as she likes to be called is a fierce character who remains mysterious and secretive throughout her appearances.
Fans are hoping Thunderbolts* puts her character on center stage and gives her the limelight she deserves. She is the CIA director with more contacts and powers than other people can fathom. Val begins recruiting a set of powerful beings including John Walker and Yelena Belova. Thunderbolts* will certainly shed a brighter light on her actions that have rippling consequences and how the team eventually manages to deal with it all.
Thunderbolts* is set to release on April 30, 2025.
