In a race to survive the cancellation guillotine on streaming platforms, movies and shows are becoming increasingly intriguing. Storytellers and writers are racking their brains to come up with something extraordinary. Some would think that the high-budget franchises have it set, but it couldn’t be further from the truth.

The battle between franchise projects is on another level especially when they belong to expansive universes such as Marvel and Star Wars. Marvel’s recent series Agatha All Along takes the witch’s story ahead as she strives to get her powers back after the brutal showdown with Wanda.

Firstly, the fact that the platform itself revealed the viewership numbers is noteworthy since not many streaming giants indulge in such revelations. However, Disney has been proactively sharing the viewership stats and letting people know how the shows are doing quite often now. From The Acolyte to Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Disney has been quite upfront in telling the media about the performance of the projects.

Coming to Agatha All Along, the miniseries drew 9.3 million views in its first week on Disney+ which may seem like a bummer but there’s more to it than meets the eye. The show is actually perceived to have done quite well, given it was made on a meager budget. As compared to Star Wars shows like Ahsoka and The Acolyte which needed a larger budget to accommodate visual effects and grand sets, Agatha All Along has kept it lowkey to date.

The series does not go above and beyond on visual effects and has kept its focus on the narrative which seems to be working in its favor. Despite being made on massive budgets, The Acolyte garnered 11.1 million views in five days and Ahsoka roped in 14 million views in five days. In light of these numbers, we would say Agatha All Along has done pretty well for itself.

Though the exact budget of the series is unknown, Agatha All Along will perhaps be counted as a success for Marvel even though it remains disconnected from the burgeoning Marvel Cinematic Universe. There is a huge possibility that Marvel will find a way to tie it all together and maybe even bring Wanda back after the events of Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness.

The show may not be Marvel’s biggest success yet, but it is doing quite well, thanks to fans’ curiosity in seeing if Agatha All Along can bring back the beloved Scarlet Witch. It takes over the story after the events of WandaVision as Agatha tries to regain her powers with the help of two eccentric allies. With just three episodes released, Agatha All Along has garnered an 83% approval rating on the Tomatometer with the audience rating the show high as well.

Poised to be a miniseries, the show’s core objective is to give Agatha a backstory so that if and when Marvel decides to integrate the supernatural world with the MCU, Wanda and Agatha can play pivotal roles in the same. The Darkhold is also a crucial piece of the puzzle especially considering Marvel’s plans to include elements of otherworldly nature into future projects.
