MCU struggles as numerous WGA (Writers Guild of America) writers have taken to speaking out for their rightful pay and additional perks on the streets of California and New York over the past few days. If you’re familiar with the creative industry, the strike probably won’t come as a surprise to you, because writers remain employed behind the scenes in many successful and well-known companies, and are paid much less than celebrities.

The WGA writers’ strike is a flame that has been lit within everyone who works exceptionally hard but fails to receive compensation following their legal obligations. Writers and other employees have ‘halted’ the production of many upcoming shows to express their solidarity and support. Wonder Man and Daredevil: Born Again from the MCU are two of the shows that are being delayed as a result of the strike.

Wonder Man’s filming halted inevitably

Wonder Man, starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Ben Kingsley, was expected to start filming in Los Angeles but has been delayed as a result of the WGA writers’ strike. Comedian Adam Conover, who is part of the crowd outside studio houses in California and New York that are protesting, along with writers who have been mentioned, said,

”If we shut this shoot down, Disney is going to lose a couple hundred thousand bucks. The more of these we shut down the sooner the strike ends.”

Destin Daniel Cretton and Andrew Guest created the television series Wonder Man, which is based on the eponymous superhero from Marvel Comics. There is no set premiere date for the television series, but it is anticipated to air later this year during the 2023–2024 TV season. Simon Williams is one of the earliest superheroes in Marvel Comics.

Necessary MCU production hiccups

Not only has the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Wonder Man suffered, but it was reported that Daredevil: Born Again and Blade have also come under fire because of the WGA strike. Some audience members have sincerely realized the need for these glitches in the show’s production, even though some of them think these stops are unnecessary.

The production of the Blade reboot and then Daredevil: Born Again has been put on hold by the MCU, which is already in its fifth phase until the WGA writers’ strike is resolved. People recognize that it is very important for writers to demand their due especially in an industry where many find it hard to survive.

More MCU shows’ Production at risk

It’s fair to say that Marvel Studios is feeling the effects of the WGA strike and that this is probably the beginning of it. The studio is currently filming Captain America: New World Order and Agatha: Coven of Chaos, among other shows and films, but after the postponement of Wonder Man, nothing appears certain.

Other programs, such as Thunderbolts and Deadpool 3, may take the same course as Blade and Daredevil: Born Again, which will only delay the projects. One of the reasons the WGA strike protested the studios was because of the studios’ propensity to change and rewrite scripts while movies were being made.

When Marvel Studios hosts its SDCC panel this summer, fans might get an understanding of the potential influence. Ironheart and Echo are two additional endeavors that Marvel Studios have been working on that might be released in the interim to fill the void left by the delays.
