Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Almost Used Johnny Blaze’s Version of Ghost Rider Replacing Robbie Reyes
Mark Kolpack, the visual effects supervisor of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D revealed that the makers almost decided to use Johnny Blaze’s version of Ghost Rider and not Robbie Reyes.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was primarily going to use Johnny Blaze’s version of Ghost Rider, replacing Robbie Reyes’ version.
Marvel Took Away Blaze’s Version Of Ghost Rider
In a recent interview, Mark Kolpack, the visual effects supervisor of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. revealed that Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen, the makers of the show, initially planned to end Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 3 with a post-credits scene introducing Johnny’s Ghost Rider in season 4. Highlighting the moment, Kolpack echoed that it was somewhat a husband-wife Storage Wars kind of thing. He mentioned that “They bid on a storage locker and then they open up the locker and they’re going into it and going, ‘Wow. What the hell is all this?”
Kolpack added that both the makers started seeing the posters of the Daredevil as there was a leather jacket and a motorcycle. He said that there were quite a few little clues that the makers decided to foreshadow and tease in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 4. But thanks to Marvel who took away Blaze’s version of Ghost Rider. As a result, the makers of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. have to change it quickly and put everything the other way around.
Gabriel Luna Played Ghost Rider In Season 4
The makers of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. were told that they can include Ghost Rider in season 4 of the franchise, but neither Blaze nor Danny’s version should be used. That is when they introduced Robbie Reyes’ version of Ghost Rider on screen. Written by Felipe Smith and crafted by artist Tradd Moore, this version of Ghost Rider first appeared in 2014’s All-New Ghost Rider #1. Later, it was Gabriel Luna who made debuted as The Ghost in Season 4 of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
With that being said, Luna will return as Tommy Miller in the upcoming The Last of Us series. However, the actor got to play Ghost Rider only in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 4, as Marvel withdrew the character after folding its TV division in 2019.
