As Netflix Shows Become MCU Canon, Marvel Fans Give a Hot Take: “Iron Fist was a good show”
Netflix Marvel shows like Iron Fist, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Daredevil, The Punisher, and The Defenders have now become the MCU canon. The status of these series in the MCU was shrouded in mystery for a long time but the MCU finally canonizing these shows has made fans ecstatic, to say the least. As Daredevil: Born Again gets closer, many Marvel fans have been favoring one show that was discarded as a B-graded action series—Iron Fist.
Marvel Fans Are Rooting For Iron Fist, Finally Recognizing Its Merit
Despite being seen as the weakest of the Marvel shows put out by Netflix for all these years, Marvel maniacs are finally recognizing the merit of Iron Fist. While it is agreed that Season 1 is a weaker link to the show than Season 2, it is by no means terribly done. Due to Season 1 being a bit slower and other Netflix Marvel shows overshadowing it to a great degree with their brilliance, Iron Fist is often overlooked. When the X account @DDevilUpdates tweeted about it as a hot take, many fans seemed to agree. Check out some of the reactions below:

season 1 don't get the point and Finn wasn't ready back then, but in season 2 he improved a lot and also the story is better

The one thing that was a blow to its popularity was definitely the accusation of whitewashing the main character. There was an overwhelming plea from fans to cast an Asian-American in the role of this master of martial arts. However, Marvel dodged that and went on to cast Finn Jones, a.k.a. Ser Loras Tyrell of Game Of Thrones. The early reviews of Iron Fist, therefore, have been anything but kind, with a Rotten Tomatoes score of 37% by critics. However, even though the first season sits at a 20% Rotten Tomatoes score, the second season drastically improves by garnering 55% positive reviews on the site.

Many had a problem with the weak writing of the show, which did not make any sense at times, and the main character could have used some more building. However, the supporting characters are surprisingly well done. The acting by most of the cast is also top-notch. One can only hope that Marvel will revive the show in a much better manner going forward.
An Iron Fist MCU Project With A Female Lead Is Reportedly At Works
Marvel Studios is reportedly working on a new Iron Fist project that would see a female lead instead of Finn Jones’ Danny Rand. According to industry savant Daniel Richtman’s insider scoop via his Patreon, he let the fans in on a big rumor that Marvel Studios is thinking of bringing back Iron Fist with a twist.
Although the project does not rule out Finn Jones’ involvement, if the reports are to be believed, then he would not be in the main role. Although the show’s popularity stems from the live-action version, according to Richtman, many possibilities are being thrown around behind the screen, including that of an animated version for the upcoming rumored project.
Iron Fist is available to stream on Disney+.
