Avatar: The Last Airbender Potential Season 4 Plot Details Revealed by Head Writer
The story of Aang and the battle of the elements has garnered popularity almost overnight, thanks to Avatar: The Last Airbender series. With the latest live-action rendition released recently on Netflix, fans have gotten nostalgic about the original series that brought Aang’s world to life. Premiering on Nickelodeon, the animated show was a beloved part of many childhoods. Even though the Netflix series did not meet fans’ expectations, it at least brought the show to the forefront with people getting to know about Aang’s journey.
Will there be a Season 4 of Avatar: The Last Airbender?
Avatar: The Last Airbender narrates the story of young Aang, who has to master the four elements to restore peace in the world. It is Aang’s destiny to perfect his skills and stop the Fire Nation from wreaking havoc across the other nations. The seasons of the show were titled Book One: Water, Book Two: Earth, and Book Three: Fire. It has since made fans wonder if there will ever be a fourth season of the animated show.
While Aang and his companions continue to live on in graphic novels and spinoff series, we never got to see the story continue in the way fans loved the most. The animated show had immense potential which was ultimately squandered after the live-action adaptation movie of the story bombed at the box office. The creators of the show Bryan Konietkzo and Michael Dante DiMartino were excited about the possibility of making another season, but instead, they chose to give way to more live-action renditions of the story.
Possible Storyline for Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 4
The lead writer for the show Avatar: The Last Airbender, Aaron Ehasz, opened up about a possible story arc for season 4. In an elaborate thread on Twitter (now X) in 2019, he goes on to explain how he would have wanted the next season to feature Azula’s redemption. Similar to her brother Zuko’s story, Ehasz believed in redeeming characters through people they had initially hurt. Zuko, despite it all, would have stuck by her side and helped her get better. He says,
“Despite it all, her brother Zuko would be there for her. Believing in her, sticking by her, doing his best to understand and help her hold her pain that she can no longer hold alone. Zuko — patient, forgiving, and unconditionally loving – all strengths he gained from Uncle Iroh. That’s how she would have gotten out, and changed. With the faith and love of someone she had hurt, but who stuck by her anyway. Just as he had been saved by faith and love from someone he had hurt, but who stuck by him.”
I *LOVE* this.
Originally, I hated Azula and wanted to see her destroyed. UNTIL THE LAST EPISODE. The basklash was BRUTAL. Watching her breakdown, all of a sudden I couldn't see her as an evil villain anymore, and I felt so incredibly sorry for her. I felt so bad for hating her.

Thank you so much for saying this. Azula is far and away my favorite fictional character of all time and I can't tell you how disheartening it is to see people insist she is "inherently evil/psychopathic" when that's clearly not the casehttps://t.co/KH7rp25geQ

I would’ve loved to see this! The comics are starting to see a turn around with Azula. I hope they continue to show her journey! I like to imagine she ends up mastering fire healing and becoming the old Sage who aided Korra at the temple in “Beginnings”. How poetic that would be!

Since Azula still had a fight left in her, it was plausible to cover her story as she goes on to redeem herself in the eyes of her brother. On one hand, people believed the writer was messing around since the post was made a day after April Fool’s Day. However, others believed this story needed more than one season to pan out comfortably. Nonetheless, almost everyone agreed how lovely it would have been to see Azula’s story take center stage in season 4.
