Baki Hanma: Keisuke Itagaki Left a Major Yuujirou Plot Hole that Could Hint At a Tragic Past
Yuujirou Hanma could probably be one of the most dominating forces in anime. Also known as the “Ogre”, Baki Hanma’s father is the main antagonist of the Baki Series. Keisuke Itagaki structured the character in a way that would bring chills even to the viewers just by his mere presence.
There is absolutely no one in the Baki-verse, apart from his son Baki Hanma who can actually challenge the Ogre. Knowing that fact, there is no leash that bounds Yuujirou Hanma to any moral compass. Keisuke Itagaki has left a big plot hole in the reason for Yuujirou Hanma’s devious nature, but is there actually a reason why?
Unmasking the Monster known as Yuujirou from Baki Hanma
Yuujirou Hanma, the strongest creature on the planet is a creature is known for two thing, which is unparalleled strength and having a sick lack of empathy. Throughout the series, the Ogre led a life based on his own morality, which was basically him living by a natural law of the strong dominating the weak. But the reason for this mindset is still unbeknownst to many.
Many have theorized that Yuujirou’s lack of empathy stems from the lack of care when he was an infant. However, that still can be argued as the manga suggests that Yuujirou‘s mother sensed the threatening auro and understood the will of her newborn son. Yuujirou developed an awareness as a newborn and the time that Yuujirou‘s mother spent time with him shocked her. She later went to a mountain to become a monk after Yuujirou went away from home.
At just 16 years old, Baki Hanma’s father went to the Vietnam War to further sharpen his arsenal, where he fought against the Americans. But to everyone’s surprise, Yuujirou Hanma managed to defeat the entire US military by himself. As much as people would like to believe that something might’ve caused Yuujirou Hanma’s evil nature, it may be safe to assume that the Ogre just might have been born to dominate those weaker than him.
Having mastered all the combat art techniques,Yuujirou Hanma has been at the top of the food chain for quite some time. However, there are still characters in the Baki series who could give the Ogre a run for his money.
3 of the strongest characters in Baki Hanma, not named Yuujirou Hanma
1. Baki Hanma: Driven by an almost obsessive desire to surpass his father, Baki has honed his body and fighting skills to an incredibly high level, even rivaling Yuujirou Hanma’s. Baki isn’t just about brute force; his intelligence and strategic thinking make him a formidable opponent.
2. Pickle: This prehistoric caveman is most definitely a wild card in the Baki Hanma series. Ripped from the pages of history, Pickle embodies raw, untamed power. Even though he lacks martial arts training, he relies purely on his instinct and brute force. Seeing that he has grappled with dinosaurs and tanked seemingly fatal blows, Pickle’s unpredictability and sheer power make him a terrifying opponent. Baki Hanma himself claimed that with brute strength alone, the prehistoric caveman surpasses the Ogre, Yuujirou Hanma.
3. Doppo Orochi: The master of Shaolin Kung Fu, Doppo is a legend in the martial arts world. Doppo doesn’t rely on brute strength, unlike the majority of the top-tier characters in the series Instead, his power comes from years of honed technique and unwavering spirit. Doppo’s fighting style is not only elegant but incredibly brutal. Doppo uses his martial arts mastery to use the opponent’s strength against themselves, overcoming seemingly insurmountable challenges.
