Barbie Star Had a Small Yet Impactful Cameo With Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War
As Greta Gerwig’s Barbie movie paints the town pink, denizens start scrambling for content that is decidedly not the movie itself. With a big movie such as this, several other info gets high demand. From inside scoops of the making to on-set stories and blasts from the pasts of the actors involved; anything and everything is more than welcome. One such story has surfaced. One of the actors from the stellar cast of the Barbie movie has had a cameo in Avengers: Infinity War. Although, such news doesn’t escape viewers’ keen eye. But in this case, so seems the case.
The Barbie Star’s Association With Thanos
In Greta Gerwig’s Storm of Pink and Laughter movie, Margot Robbie‘s Barbie leaves her pink and glittery world to explore the real world, accompanied by her Ken, Ryan Gosling. Her journey in the real world just about revolves around a mother-daughter duo, played by America Ferrera and Ariana Greenblatt respectively.
Unbeknownst to many, Barbie isn’t the now fifteen years old Ariana Greenblatt’s first pop-culture phenomenon. She has been part of some iconic projects including Disney’s Stuck in the Middle where she played Jenna Ortega’s sister, and starred alongside Adam Driver in 65. Her most notable work before Barbie is Avengers: Infinity War.
She played the young version of Gamora-the daughter of Thanos, in Avengers: Infinity War. With green paint all over her and red streaks on her head, she was far from all the glam we see her having in the Barbie movie. Greenblatt was nine at the time she shot Infinity War, causing her to be unrecognizable. She was seen in a flashback where Thanos tells her he caused the annihilation.
Even before being eligible to get a driver’s permit, Greenblatt has some big projects under her belt. On reflecting on her time on set with Josh Brolin, she said:
“Being painted green at 5 in the morning and in front of this guy who’s in this little gray mo-cap suit with dots all over his face, it really was out of this world and I was just obsessed with it.”

Ariana Greenblatt’s Experience On The Barbie Set
Ariana Greenblett’s getting ready process for Sasha doesn’t involve any body paint and she looks much like herself. This role also involves her getting the opportunity to portray her acting skills. She says working with Gerwig and Robbie was a huge learning experience for her. Getting to hang out with Robbie in between takes, during lunch breaks. Bonding over music and eating sushi and matcha lattes; she claims to be “awestruck” by the exchange.
“That was just such a special moment for me that I’ll never forget because, keep in mind, we were doing this, but she was also watching trailers for movies that haven’t even come out yet…and then giving notes, and then she’s doing six things at once,”
Getting a major role in a movie directed by Greta Gerwig and that too at fifteen is no easy feat. Her way here from now is only onwards and upwards. It is safe to say Barbie won’t be her last project.
