The solo movie of Shazan released in April 2019 and contrary to popular opinion Black Adam was not the main villain in the movie. Rather, Doctor Sivana (Mark Strong) was the main villain. Black Adam will now be introduced through a solo movie before his confrontation with Shazam. The sequel to Shazam is expected to start filming in 2020 and Mister Mind will be the main nemesis for Shazam in the movie. Shazam and Black Adam may not meet until Shazam 3.

The actor confirmed in 2014 that he would play Black Adam and fans have been waiting ever since then to see him in the role. It seems like it is happening finally. Johnson thanked an artist for making a 1/5 scale model of him as the supervillain in a tweet. He revealed that the filming is due to start on July 2020. Jaume Collet-Serra will be directing the solo outing of the villain and Adam Sztykiel will write the script. Black Adam may make an appearance in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. DC seems to have big plans for the villainous character after keeping him on the back burner for quite a long while.
