Black Butler Fans Cannot Catch a Break as Manga Confirms Indefinite Hiatus to Prepare for Its Climax
It seems like Lady Luck is not in favor of Black Butler fans as the manga goes on an indefinite hiatus to prepare for its climax. The official X account for Square Enix’s G Fantasy magazine announced on Monday that Yana Toboso’s Black Butler manga is going on hiatus.
In addition, the X post included a statement from Toboso, stating that she will be conducting research and making preparations as the manga heads toward its climax. There’s no telling when the manga will return with a new release, given that no date has been revealed so far.

While Black Butler goes on an indefinite hiatus, creator Yana Toboso issued a statement with a new illustration:
Thank you very much for always supporting Black Butler! We have decided to take a slightly longer hiatus. I debuted in 2004, so this year will mark 20 years of drawing. The reason I was able to continue for so long without any serious illnesses was due to everyone’s warm support.
During this period, I will prepare mentally and physically to proceed with the necessary interviews and preparations for the climax of the Black Butler manga. I apologize to everyone who was looking forward to the series. We will be back in the best condition!

Given that Season 3 of Black Butler returned in 2024, a decade after Season 2 was released in 2014, there’s no telling when the manga will make its entrance. It is entirely possible for the hiatus to end after a decade and Black Butler might take ten years to make an appearance.
