Blackbeard May be Fooling Everyone in One Piece by Being an Agent of Imu Without Having Eaten a Second Devil Fruit – Theory
There is no dearth of theories when it comes to One Piece, given that it has been running for over two decades now. The sprawling nature of the One Piece world has spawned several theories over the years that range from mild to wild! Moreover, there are unresolved mysteries in One Piece that have been gnawing away at the minds of the fans for a while now.
One of those mysteries is how Marshall D. Teach, commonly known as Blackbeard, can wield the power of two Devil Fruits. It is a well-known fact that a character can only consume one Devil Fruit, but Blackbeard turned the world upside-down by consuming two Devil Fruits. Fans have many theories about how Blackbeard can wield two separate powers, but none of them seem to hit the mark.
A Reddit Theory Suggests That Blackbeard Is An Agent Of Imu
Among popular fan theories like the Cerberus theory or Chimera theory, another theory has emerged from a Reddit user RelevantJackWhite, who states that Blackbeard is an agent of Imu. According to the theory, his darkness does not come from Devil Fruit, but he has acquired the power of darkness directly from Imu.
If this theory is true, this would imply that Blackbeard never consumed any Devil Fruit, only stole it. The user further states that he helps Imu pull the strings on the world to maintain control of it. This would not only make Blackbeard a terrifying opponent for the Straw Hats but also a major threat to the One Piece world.
Imu looms like a vengeful spirit and with the power of the Gorosei in their hands, their strength can only be unimaginably potent. And if Imu has a crony like Blackbeard under their control, one can only imagine what the final battle will look like. It has not been clarified how Imu will utilize Blackbeard, but Eiichiro Oda will definitely tie all loose ends.
Blackbeard Solidifies His Status As a One Piece Villain With His Theft Of Power
Although it’s still not clear how Blackbeard came into possession of two Devil Fruit powers, anime enthusiasts can agree that Blackbeard’s unusual theft of the Gura-Gura no Mi Fruit is a perfect example of how anime villains power up differently than the heroes do. Both heroes and villains need to power up to keep up with the pace of the story and increase the stakes. However, how they do that separates the two.
Heroes like Monkey D. Luffy must maintain consistent discipline and grit in order to train hard to get stronger and put in the effort necessary to acquire new moves. Whereas, villains like Blackbeard are constantly on the lookout for cheap moves and tend to “cheat” in order to attain powers.
