The 21 Bridges star rose to fame after entering the MCU. He quickly won over fans with his role as T’Challa. Fans were excited to see him return in the sequel after his performance in Black Panther. However, the actor’s protracted struggle with cancer failed in 2020 at the age of 43. Before his death, Chadwick Boseman revealed how he had issues with his Black Panther costume.

Marvel debuted the new superhero Black Panther played by Chadwick Boseman in Captain America: Civil War. The 2016 film gave fans a new superhero to adore. Boseman’s portrayal of Black Panther has been an iconic one. Fans have loved the character and his all-black superhero suit. However, the 42 actor, during an interview, revealed the struggle he had with his famous Black Panther costume.

The late actor, who after playing T’Challa in the franchise became a fan-favorite, died at the age of 43 in 2020, after fighting a long battle with cancer. Before his death, the Marvel star opened up about his struggles with donning the suit. He said,

“I see the same thing. You don’t have as much vision in the peripheral. Your peripheral vision is definitely skewed, and it’s gritty, so you have this gritty, tinted view. You can see enough.”

The 21 Bridges actor said that he didn’t particularly appreciate wearing the costume as a whole. He added,

“As far as the actual suit is concerned, there’s a lot of comfort in the shoes and the boots, and that’s about the only part I did enjoy. That being said, the boots are the hardest part to get on, but after you get them on, you’re like, ‘Ok, that feels good.’ I remember being extremely hot, claustrophobic, but the shoes are still good. Everything else you get used to.”

Boseman stated that he grew more at ease in the outfit before donning it once more for his own superhero film. He was supposed to reprise his role in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which came out in 2022, however, his sudden death crushed the dreams of fans to see him once again in the black suit. The 2022 film did pay tribute to Chadwick Boseman.

Chadwick Boseman died on August 28, 2020. He spent four years battling colon cancer. The actor battled stage IV colon cancer for years after receiving a stage III diagnosis in 2016. The actor died in 2020 at the age of 43 after losing his fight.

The late actor was supposed to reprise his Black Panther role for a second film. However, the fan’s dream to see him as a superhero was crushed. The 2022 movie Black Panther: Wakanda Forever paid a beautiful tribute to Boseman.

The tremendous pain felt inside the imaginary world and presumably by the actors who were mourning the loss of their comrade is illustrated with a traditional dance, a mosaic of the face of the dead king, and a focus on Shuri’s raw mourning. Viewers were moved by Boseman’s portrayal of Black Panther, and this scene in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever serves as a figurative eulogy.

Both the Black Panther movies are available to stream on Disney+.
