Chris Pratt’s MCU Return Comment Riles up Fans, Brings Back Star-Lord PTSD from Infinity War
For someone who was not even looking to step foot in the entertainment industry, Chris Pratt has come a long way. From minor roles in movies and TV shows to his breakthrough role as Andy Dwyer in Parks and Recreation to portraying Star-Lord in the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, it would not be wrong to say that his career’s trajectory has been anything short of stellar.
Pratt first appeared in the MCU as Peter Quill, also known as Star-Lord, in Guardians of Galaxy Vol. 1. Last year, he returned as the character in the conclusive third movie of the series. Since then, fans have been curious about what is next in store for the character or even the actor.
There has been a lot of speculation around it online, especially since James Gunn is now the co-chairman of DC Studios. Thankfully, Pratt recently offered an answer when asked about his MCU return even if that might not have been what fans wanted to hear.
Chris Pratt on If He Will Return to MCU or Debut in DCU
The possibility of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was low, at least with James Gunn as its director, after some people dug up Gunn’s deliberately edgy joke tweets from years ago. It led to Disney firing him in 2018. However, that did not last for too long because he was rehired in March 2019 to work on the third Guardians movie.
2023 saw the release of the star-studded movie. It was part of Phase 5 and was a box-office success with a worldwide gross of over $845.6 million, which made it the fourth-highest-grossing film of the year. Following the release of the movie, there has been a lot of talk about what is next for the Star-Lord.
In a recent interview with ComicBook, when the interviewer asked if Pratt would show up in the MCU, the DCU, or both, he said:
“Well, it probably make more sense that I would be Star Lord again. But anything is possible, and especially with James over at DC. Maybe there’s something that would be right over there. Maybe both. How about both? Let’s do both. I think it’s 100% both.”
This answer is quite surprising especially since there has been no official announcement regarding either of these franchises.
Will Chris Pratt’s Return to MCU Be a Good Idea?
Pratt will likely show up in the DCU since he has worked with Gunn for so long. However, his return to the MCU might not be the best idea following what he did in Avengers: Infinity War during the battle on Titan. Here is how some fans reacted to the news:
This just pissed me off big time. https://t.co/xTiwJSVGXp

Hypothetically. Let’s not forget that this was a hypothetical and not fact. https://t.co/OXeDjb8Smp

The reaction seems logical since what went down in the Infinity War. The Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, Doctor Strange, and Spider-Man almost succeed in getting the Infinity Gauntlet off Thanos’ hand when Peter Quill learns that Thanos sacrificed his foster daughter Gamora to get an Infinity Stone. This makes Quill lose composure and attack Thanos in a fit of rage.
This attack makes Thanos regain his focus while Mantis was trying to keep him from doing so and he manages to get the completed Infinity Gauntlet. Quill’s mistake had significant consequences and changed the storyline. This made fans quite angry because if it hadn’t been for him, half of the universe’s population would not have turned into dust and Iron Man wouldn’t have had to sacrifice himself to stop Thanos in Avengers: Endgame.
Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy and the Avengers movies are available for streaming on Disney+.
