“Cooper just doesn’t brag about it”: Brad Pitt Owes His Life to Bradley Cooper, Who Helped Him Quit Alcohol After Divorce With Angelina Jolie
Bradley Cooper’s most popular movie is certainly The Hangover, as his character Phil and his two friends end up getting embroiled in a lot of trouble thanks to their wild party in Las Vegas.
From stealing Mike Tyson’s tiger to losing their friend Doug, the three friends get in all kinds of trouble and try to make things better (and remember what happened the night before) while they are still hungover.
The movie was a financial success, bagging close to half a billion at the box office. This led to two more installments. All three movies were a rollercoaster of emotions with just one bold message: Never go berserk with your drinks!
How Bradley Cooper Helped Brad Pitt
Away from the cameras, it seems Bradley Cooper takes the idea of being away from drinks even more seriously (and for a good reason) than his The Hangover character Phil. And the way Phil helps his friends, Stu and Alan, Cooper also goes out of his way to help his friends and colleagues in Hollywood.
Brad Pitt himself has had a rollercoaster of life. The talented actor has seen success like only a few in the entertainment industry and thanks to his good looks he has also managed to attract the most glamorous romantic partners on and off the screen.
At the same time, he has had his fair share of struggles in his path. From his legal dispute with ex-wife Angelina Jolie to his struggle with alcoholism, the Troy hero has faced many challenges, and it has emerged Cooper lent him a helping hand during this journey.
The Silver Linings Playbook star has been a shining light for many in the industry, including Pitt. “Bradley’s a role model to many in the industry,” a source told Life & Style. “He just doesn’t brag about it.”
In 2020, while accepting the award for Best Supporting Actor at the National Board of Review Annual Awards Gala, Pitt revealed Cooper encouraged him to become sober and thanked him during his speech.
Who Helped Bradley Cooper Get Sober
Before being in the right state and position to help his co-stars, Cooper himself struggled with drugs and alcohol in his 20s and even landed in the hospital after bashing his head into the concrete at a party (can’t help but think he gave The Hangovers‘ writers an idea or two for their script).
Thankfully, his former roommate Will Arnett stepped up and gave him the right wake-up call. “Will took that risk of having that hard conversation with me,” Cooper said. “That put me on a path of deciding to change my life.”
Arnett certainly knows a thing or two about drinking problems and brilliantly voiced the 90s’ sitcom star BoJack Horseman who messes up everything due to his severe alcoholism and self-loathing personality in the popular Netflix series, BoJack Horseman.
