House of the Dragon season 2 came to an end recently, leaving fans wanting more. With an incredible setup for the final war that will decide whether Rhaenyra gets to rule or Aegon II is the true king, the season did more to build the story than to give fans what they wanted aka intense action sequences.

At the same time, one very interesting detail that House of the Dragon presented for the viewers was the White Walkers. It all started with King Viserys sharing the prophecy with Rhaenyra and telling her about the Long Night. Even in House of the Dragon season 2 episode 1, Jacerys learns of the death beyond the wall by Cregan Stark.

Given his incessant urge to be King and have a crown on his head, the theory positing Daemon Targaryen as the Night King has been afloat for a long time. Many reasons point toward this possibility as we continue to conjoin the details shared in both House of the Dragon and Game of Thrones.

The link between the White Walkers and the Targaryen dynasty is undeniable since their entire ruling lineage has been equipped with the knowledge of the Long Night. What’s more, we see the Night King coming out of Dragonfire unscathed, further fuelling the belief that he is a Targaryen. The Night King even knows how to ride a dragon, something only the Targaryens are familiar with.

Fans got a direct link between Daemon and the Night King via their appearance. The way Daemon dresses is very similar to how the Night King looks in Game of Thrones. Moreover, the horns on the Night King’s head are very similar to the crown that Daemon adorns in Season 1.

Another parallel theory suggests that there were two Night Kings since the drawing on the caves in Dragonstone shows him with a beard whereas Game of Thrones presents him without one. So, the crux of the matter lies in the fact that Daemon’s Night King might have come after the children of the forest made a Night King and eventually the White Walkers. This happens on an island called the Isle of Faces, the same location where Daemon falls after his battle with Aemond only for his body to never be found.

The last episode of House of the Dragon season 2 is a bewildering extension of the story where Daemon’s visions finally show some substance. He sees aspects of the past, present, and future only to learn how his fate is intertwined with that of Rhaenyra who was chosen to rule Westeros. He pledges his fielty to her and readies for battle.

Daemon’s final vision shows crucial moments from the future or Game of Thrones show with Three-Eyed Raven, Daenerys after her dragons were born, and a White Walker making an appearance. Looking more closely, the facial features and the white hair of the Night King also prove to be strong links to the theory of Daemon being the Night King. Lastly, the symbol that the Night King leaves after killing people or as a mark that he was there is eerily similar to the Targaryen sigil.
