Makers Hint Significant Information

Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy said at Disney Investor Day 2020 that McGregor’s budding prequel alum Hayden Christensen will also redo his character as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader. Kennedy then hinted that Obi-Wan Kenobi will again bring the pair together for “the rematch of the century.” Makers of Star Wars lately gave out details from the series’ production, revealing where the battle fits into the series’ plot, how long the fight went on and even who makes the first move.

Reportedly, Obi-Wan Kenobi will show the Jedi causing chaos for the new Galactic Empire. At a point, Kenobi will play cunning by finishing a rescue mission, successfully protecting a character significant to the Rebel Alliance’s cause. As things get heated up, Darth Vader sends from his castle on Mustafar to cleverly intercept his ex master.

The action’s filming reportedly initiated with the fighters meeting in an environment filled with dirt, sand and rock formations that are similar to terrains like Jedha, Tatooine and Geonosis. Even though Vader is clothed head-to-toe in his popular black suit, a ragged Kenobi identifies the beaten Skywalker immediately. Then Vader closes in, intending on engaging, Kenobi starts the battle with the iconic Force Push that shoots Vader in the air and within what seems to be a stone wall. Like “a Terminator taking a powerful hit,” Vader takes stance again and slowly reaches the enemy, determined to take his revenge.

The reports provided that the battle almost two weeks to film in the month of August 2021, which was near the time when shooting was reportedly packed up on the series. Although Christensen did fit the Darth Vader suit through a bit of the series’ filming, however, the actor was not actually in the costume most of the times.

Apart from Kennedy’s teases and the much loved glimpse at the revealed concept art, Lucasfilm has much to tell about Obi-Wan Kenobi, not leaving much space to confirm or disprove the abovementioned reports. The series’ plot will be showing Kenobi throughout his exile on Tatooine amongst the events of Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: A New Hope.
