The long-standing debate between the powers of various superheroes can never be fully settled. From the Marvel Cinematic Universe to the DCU, there are so many superhumans with diverse powers. Some can fly like Superman, some can run fast like Flash, and some can even disappear like Invisible Hood. One such debate with two superheroes and their superpowers is between Superman and the Flash from the DCU. Can our beloved Superman outrun the DC speedster in a race?

Who’s Faster: Superman or Flash?

Superman and Flash have often raced in a friendly competition and come head to head in the same. Fans believe the superheroes are super fast and have immense powers. But what sets both of them apart? The answer lies in the origin of their powers.

As revealed in Justice League Beyond 2.0, written by Christos Gage, Iban Coello, Randy Mayor, and Saida Temofonte, Flash will have an edge over Superman in terms of speed because of speedforce. Superman gains his power from the sun’s radiation in his cells. The speedster is powered by speedforce, the energy that essentially enables movement in any object. When Superman uses his powers to their maximum capacity, they are bound to run out and leave him tired. On the other hand, Flash’s powers are sort of limitless. He can run for as long as his body allows him to.

Superman uses his powers because of the radiation that powers his cells. Once that radiation runs out, he is rendered powerless. Even though Superman has won some of his races with the speed superhero, the recent comic edition proves Flash has the upper hand in the speed power vertical.

Can Any Superhero Defeat Flash?

When it comes to physical combat, there might be a few heroes who have and can beat DC’s speedster. However, nobody has come close to outrunning Flash in the comics. If we put Marvel heroes against Flash, some superheroes might hold a torch against Flash. For example, Marvel’s Scarlet Witch can essentially manipulate reality and play with his mind to defeat him.

Another Marvel superhero is the charming god of thunder, Thor, whose hammer is enough to cause significant harm to Flash. Thor can even summon lightning bolts that can hit Flash no matter how fast he runs. Captain Marvel is also powerful enough to beat Flash with her flight and resilient energy blasts.

In the comic Superman #709 by J. Michael Straczynski, Chris Roberson, Eddy Barrows, and Allan Goldman, Flash claims that his grandson Bart might be the only one to defeat Flash. Provided Bart works hard and practices every day to maintain his speed, he might outrun his grandfather one day.
