It breathes. It dreams. And, at night, beneath a low-hanging fog, it shambles through the shadows with its red eyes and funereal soul. The swamp has a spirit, and it walks on two legs. A monster that was once a man

In the upcoming week, DC would be broadcasting the first episode of the ‘Swamp Thing’  starring Derek Mears for the very first time on the television. The basic plot revolves around Alec Holland, who was working on a very confidential chemical in his unrevealed lab. Alec lost his life due to a sudden explosion in the lab due to a typical bomb-blast.

But what is born after that is an unknown creature made of vegetation with Alec Holland’s pain and grief.”The monstrous Swamp Thing can control every iota of plant life on this planet, from the fungus on stale bread to forests of towering oaks. Superhumanly strong and grotesque, he can grow himself a full array of titanic bodies from even the tiniest sprout of green. A living embodiment of the power and terror in our environment, the Swamp Thing protects both humanity and the environment—usually from each other.”

Derek Mears, the man who’d play the lead, suggested on not revealing much about the show. He said, “I’m always that guy, like, I feel I’ve made a Christmas surprise, and I don’t want people to know it until it’s Christmastime so that they get that full impact of shock and awe”

Mears revealed in an interview that the show took full dominance of its ‘hard R’ rating. He revealed how the show makers are hell-bent on deviating the show to a rather dark side. “I heard, without giving anything away, I heard on the production side at one point a story from one of the upper echelon creators, or studio execs saying something like, ‘Wait, you’re going to do what on-screen?… I mean he is a superhero in a sense, but what they’re looking for in the show is that dark horror edge, which made me very excited because that separates us from all the other superhero shows that are out there”
