But now it has come to light that the trio was originally supposed to be made up of Jeniffer Lopez as the third member in place of Aguilera. However, at the last moment, Lopez had to withdraw according to the singer. Recently, she told E! News that it has been true that she was the original choice as the third member of the iconic VMA trio. Lopez said,
“They got Christina Aguilera, I think, to do it, and I didn’t wind up doing it,”
So the decade-long rumor has been set clear by the Ain’t Your Mama singer. According to the Maid in Manhattan star, she even went to rehearse at Madonna’s place along with Spears. However as she had to be present for her filming of a movie in Canada at the time, therefore, she ended up not performing. And in the last minute, Aguilera was replaced and ended up becoming part of the iconic trio of the 2003 VMA.
The performance had been an iconic one in the history of the award show. It was made more memorable by the infamous lip-locking between Spears and Madonna. And the reaction of Justin Timberlake which was caught by the camera made it a lot more memorable. For those who do not know, Timberlake has a history with the Womanizer singer.
