Disney Villain Tropes We Are Sick & Tired Of
Have you ever seen some people going on about how Disney’s popularity is overrated? We might not always believe them but sometimes they do have a point. Some tropes have become highly predictable when it comes to Disney movies.
Even though they are entertaining to watch, sometimes it feels like they are constantly working on repeated ideas trying to play it safe. Of course, the tropes and hurting the profits but fans are definitely getting sick and tired of them. So here are some Disney villain tropes we are sick and tired of. Let’s take a look.
Flamboyancy
If a Disney movie features someone with flashy makeup, a big personality, and catchy clothing watch out for a Disney villain. Fans sometimes feel that the antagonists are unnecessarily modeled as narcissistic fashion in makeup freaks. From The Lion King’s scar to Jafar’s makeup in Aladin, everything screams flashy. It’s also a little odd how the hero isn’t flamboyant and boasts simplicity.
Obsession With Looks
Whether we talk about the wicked queen in Snow White or the cunning sisters in Cinderella, Disney villains seem to be way too obsessed with how they look. It’s mind-boggling to think how they find so much time for spinning conspiracies when they spend half their day looking in front of a mirror. It’s like, ‘Wow! She looks pretty. Now I should dedicate my life towards making her life a living hell!” Please, stop.
Typical Evil Laughter
It’s hard to pick out Disney movies that don’t show villainous characters with the typical evil and loud laughter. Whether it’s troubling the protagonist or taking someone’s life, what always follows up is a peal of maniac-like laughter that’s no longer picnic to the ears. Unrealistic much? Well, nothing is realistic per se, but we can all agree on one thing. The laughter is just way too much.
Names Say It All
Disney really didn’t leave anything to the imagination with the names of its villains being like The Big Bad Wolf. What else is it supposed to do besides terrorizing innocent protagonists? The name says it all! Naming Lucifer after the devil, so not innovative. This also means that they were destined to be evil from the day they were born. Who names a kid or a pet this way? Think Disney think!
Horrifying Deaths
Did you ever have scary nightmares involving the way Disney portrayed the death of some of its characters? It’s surprising how villains usually fell off from a sky-high place to meet their demise. Even though they refrain from showing the gruesome scenes in the movies, it does stir up some horrifying mental images later.
So, and this was our list of the topmost Disney villain tropes we’re sick and tired of. It’s one thing to put a character in the worst light. While it’s a whole new thing to make Disney villains so predictable that it takes the fun out of a story.
