The Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness teaser trailer has teased a lot of potential villains. This includes one who could be an even greater threat than Thanos. The Doctor Strange 2 trailer showed several different villains that Stephen Strange will fight in the sequel. From evil Strange Supreme variant to Gargantos from Marvel’s What If…?, the total amount of danger that’s threatening the whole multiverse has continued to escalate in the teaser trailer. However, none of these threats actually match the danger of Alioth being the prime villain of the movie.

Who is Alioth?

Loki

Making its MCU debut in the Loki series. Alioth Who Remains (also, the founder of the TVA) managed to harness the power of Alioth to make sure the war ends between various universes of the multiverse. This creature may just consume all sorts of matter, allowing it to end anything in its way.

He Who Remains went on to use the trans-temporal beast in order to serve as a guard for the Citadel beyond the Void’s realm, which was actually located beyond time and was also used by the TVA to eliminate whatever they pruned from these branched timelines. The Loki series opened up quite a terrifying situation with the demise of He Who Remains. Now, Alioth is a free-roaming strong force of destruction that is threatening all realities without a single one to control the power of the creature.

Doctor Strange tampered with the multiverse

Doctor Strange went on to tamper with the multiverse in No Way Home, and there might be another instance of the multiverse in the Doctor Strange sequel. In a similar way that the old Spider-Man villains came into a different universe altogether, Alioth escaped the Void. In the trailer for Doctor Strange 2, there was a massive dark cloud that approached Kamar-Taj and also, the fortress of the Masters of the Mystic Arts.

The rolling cloud that ended up striking terror in the sorcerers of the Kamar-Taj looked an awful lot like Alioth. Obviously, it could be a cloud made by a dark force instead of the force itself, but Alioth managing to escape the Void to wreak havoc on the multiverse would be fitting for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Stephen Strange wouldn’t only have Ailoth as the primary villain in Doctor Strange 2. It was already somewhat problematic that He Who Remains is not controlling Aliotha anymore. If Doctor Strange defeats or kills Alioth, this could create a greater vulnerability for the variants of He Who Remain to invade the Sacred Timeline. The most dangerous will be Kang the Conqueror, and, also already being teased in Disney+’s Loki, the villain will make his  MCU debut in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
