Will We See Brainiac In Superman: Legacy?
Brainiac has been rumored to be the major antagonist in Superman: Legacy ever since the film’s announcement was made. However, when further casting news came out, the villain’s identity was not revealed. James Gunn recently commented on how fast fans interpret each statement he makes as a hint regarding Coluan’s appearance.
Even on a benign post by Gunn that said he’s been busy and got a new phone, a user on the Bluesky app asked if it was code for Brainiac being in Superman: Legacy. To this, the director jokingly replied that fans have speculated so much that every sentence was being seen as code for Brainiac in the upcoming superhero flick.
Gunn is known to bring a new angle to all his projects. He wants to be unpredictable and delight fans. With the DC universe as well, it seems as if he wants to take a new direction with Superman: Legacy. While we don’t know who the final villain will be in the movie, Brainiac is a good contender for the spot. However, Gunn might end up taking a different approach since the movie is set to initiate a new DC universe.

The movie is set to release on July 11, 2025, as announced by Gunn on social media. He claimed that work had started after the strike ended and the team was determined to create something magical. Fans can’t wait to see what Gunn does with the DC Universe especially after he did a commendable job with Marvel.

The entire plot of the movie is kept under wraps to avoid spoilers and speculations. We might get more answers when filming for the movie begins in March 2024. Brainiac is a strong villain for David Corenswet’s Superman to battle in the movie but we have no official confirmation on this matter.
