Elizabeth Hubbard’s demise came as a shock to the television industry fraternity. Featuring in shows like The Doctors and One Life to Live helped her scale the heights of the industry. A veteran without comparison, she was a force to be reckoned with in her era. Her eight Emmy nominations are a testament to the same. But it is all gone now, as the holder of a great legacy now makes her way to the next world. At the age of 89, Hubbard left the world. But ever since her demise, fans have been left wondering what was the cause of her death.
How it all started?
Elizabeth Hubbard began her run in the TV industry in 1962, starring as Anne Fletcher in the soap opera, Guiding Light. The roles kept coming after that. She starred in The Edge of Night the following year. But her big break was yet to come. It was in 1964, that she bagged a role in The Doctors.
The rest, as we know it, is history.
The late actress had an initial run of years in the show. That was followed by stints from 1970 to 1977 and again from 1981-1982. Hubbard also featured in One Life to Live for a brief period of time. It would be the next year that she would final join As The World Turns, the role that would see her play the iconic Lucinda Walsh.

Elizabeth Hubbard’s successful career
Elizabeth Hubbard would essay the role of Lucinda Walsh for well over a decade. She had eight Daytime Emmy nominations for her roles in , As The World Turns (a whooping 7 nominations), and Anacostia. To cap it off, she also won the Daytime Emmy Awards for her roles in The Doctors and First Ladies Diaries: Edith Wilson.
No wonder she is a household name in the Television industry. Her demise has left a void, one which will be hard to fill. Her son announced her death to the world on Facebook. He wrote,
“I’m sorry to say with a broken heart mi mum passed over the weekend. Thank you for being an unmovable rock that guided me through life. I will try to honor your memory for as long as I live.”
The reason of death has not yet been disclosed.

Elizabeth Hubbard’s love for her fans
The Bell Jar star’s daughter also shared a heartfelt tribute for her mother on Instagram. She wrote,
“She loved the audience and fought like HELL to bring truth and honesty to her performances. On a personal level there aren’t words to describe how much she meant to me. Only feelings, which override words in so many cases when it comes to love.”
Her love for her fans knew no boundary. In 2015, in her last interview to Soap Opera Digest in 2015, Hubbard praised her fanbase, saying,
“I love them and I mean that. They’re in my heart… let the fans know that I love them and honor them and I still look at the poems I sent them,” she said. “I’ve dated many men in my life, but my secret love affair is with the fans.”
Elizabeth Hubbard was indeed a gem.
