The first full sequence from Marvel’s upcoming Eternals film, which depicts the superhero squad in action, has been published.
The “Run!” scenario has five Eternals, but focuses on Richard Madden’s Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani’s Kingo, and Lauren Ridloff’s Makkari, whose super-speed is at the foreground of the scene. While Ikaris utilises his power of flying to blast a Deviant back into the water with energy beams from his eyes, Kingo fights another Deviant alongside Makkari with his concussive energy beam powers. Following the Eternal’s use of her super-speed to knock a Deviant down a cliff, Kingo signs to Makkari, “Nice move,” to which Makkari responds, “You, too.”

Thinkers and Fighters

The Eternals’ unique powers and talents have been alluded to in recent promotional materials, with a recent Marvel featurette dividing the superhero organisation into two distinct categories: the Thinkers and the Fighters. Along with Gilgamesh (Don Lee) and Thena, Kingo, Makkari, and Ikaris all support the “fighters” (Angelina Jolie). Sprite, Druig, Ajak, and Phastos, on the other hand, are the group’s “thinkers.”

The superhero epic, directed by Academy Award winner Chloé Zhao, will cover a lot of territory with one of the MCU’s longest runtimes, clocking in at two hours and 36 minutes. The film will be divided into two narratives that will span a substantial chunk of humanity’s history on Earth, from millennia ago to the present day. While the film is supposed to be a stand-alone movie, it will have far-reaching consequences for the Marvel Universe as a whole.

“I think we stand alone as a film for sure,” Zhao said in a previous interview. “But I do think we will have a very big effect on the future of the MCU with what happens in this film. Which, you know, as a fan, is really satisfying for me! I geek out.”

The crew was brought to Earth by its creators, the godlike Celestials, to safeguard humanity from creatures known as the Deviants, who is depicted in this new footage, as previously shown in trailers and ads for the film. Ajak (Selma Hayek) also disclosed that the Eternals were barred from intervening in human matters unless they implicated Deviants, which included the events of Avengers: Endgame. The Deviants will return in time for a cataclysmic event known as “The Emergence,” which will force the Eternals to reconnect as a team after lifetimes apart, according to producer Nate Moore.
