The sitcom It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia premiered in 2005 and the filming of its seventeenth season is currently underway. Since its premiere all those years ago, the show has gained a cult following due to its dark humor and excellent performances. Not to mention the brilliant direction of Rob McElhenney, who also stars in the show.

On the other hand, the mockumentary sitcom Abbott Elementary premiered in 2021. It is created by and stars Quinta Brunson who portrays a lively second-grade teacher of an underfunded public school that predominantly has Black children. The connection between these two might not be obvious at first, but they are both set in Philadelphia, which is why the crossover is even more exciting.

McElhenney recently took to Instagram to post two separate halves of a picture, featuring the casts of the two shows and one in which they can be seen together. In the first picture, the cast of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia can be seen pouting in a school hallway, and the second picture shows the cast of the other show grinning in the hallway.

The third and final picture shows the two halves together featuring McElhenney, Danny DeVito, Kaitlin Olson, Glenn Howerton, and Charlie Day; alongside Brunson, Janelle James, Tyler James Williams, Lisa Ann Walter, Chris Perfetti, and Sheryl Lee Ralph. Fans have expressed their excitement about the crossover episode in the comments of the post.

The Crossover Episode Might Fail to Beat the Cameo in Abbott Elementary Season 3

The crossover episode is undoubtedly exciting, but it has tough competition from the sixth episode of Abbott Elementary‘s third season. In this episode, Lisa Ann Walter’s Melissa Schemmenti is in for a surprise when one of her students brings Bradley Cooper for ‘Show and Tell’.

The Hangover actor explains that he was getting a hoagie across the street when the student asked him to come to his school. The student tells Melissa that he saw people asking Cooper for a picture so he assumed that he is famous. Melissa was quite shocked to see the star and began dialing her phone before explaining that she was calling the other teachers, and not paparazzi.

Soon, all the teachers come into the class and begin discussing which movies Cooper has starred in, and were quite surprised to know that he was not in Oppenheimer because “everyone is in it”. The overall scene is quite exciting to watch, especially since Cooper spots the cameras in the class soon and asks what the cameras are doing there.
