Every DC Animated Show Coming in 2024, Ranked
The past few years have not been kind to DC, as every project they touched was condemned to turmoil. Even the projects that did work out for DC, like CW’s Arrowverse, went through a difficult time. However, James Gunn and Peter Safran bring hope of a new and revamped DC to the audience and restore their faith in the DC Universe.
DC announced many projects that would be outside the main DC Universe as a part of DC Elseworlds. Some projects can even be outside of these two banners as well. Needless to say, DC has got the audience pumped for 2024. There will be quite a few animated shows that will take over the DC Universe next year, like Creature Commandos, Suicide Squad: Isekai, Harley Quinn Season 5, and many more.
1. Creature Commandos
This is probably the most exciting project out of the DC animated universe, as James Gunn himself would spearhead the series. It is being called Gunn’s master plan for the next chapter in the DC Universe. In the future, these characters will also appear in live-action projects, and they will all be intertwined with the animation and video game lore. This is also a special project, as this will be the first animated show in the new DC Universe.
James Gunn and Peter Safran said that Creature Commandos will be a black ops team founded by Amanda Weller. This version will probably take place in the present day instead of WWII. Peter Safran seemed amazed by reading the script and made the comment (via. Collider) that:
“[I was] staggered at the caliber of the scripts. We’ll see how everything else comes, but the screenplays are amazing.”
It is expected to play a very important role in rekindling the DC Universe. It was reported that the release of the show has been delayed to 2025. However, Gunn quickly clarified on X saying that the show will take the stage in 2024 itself.
2. Harley Quinn season 5
Kaley Cuoco’s Harley Quinn is one of the most successful DC animated series in recent times. It started out as a joke, but slowly, with its potential, it turned into one of the most vital parts of DC Elseworlds, with each season drastically improving on its predecessor.

So far, the show has shown Harley and Poison Ivy falling in love after Harley Quinn breaks up with his long-time boyfriend and quite literal partner in crime- Joker. Harley becomes tired of being a villain and joins the Bat Family to become a hero, whereas Poison Ivy joins Lex Luthor as the leader of the Legion of Doom. Needless to say, they both have drastically different career paths. This leads to Harley Quinn accidentally killing Nightwing, while Ivy unintentionally becomes complicit in creating the super Lex Luthor. Their paths cross again when Catwomen comes up with the idea of Gotham City Sirens.
Meanwhile, in the season 4 finale, the audience finds Robin reviving Nightwing with the help of his mother. However, now Nightwing has only one thing in mind: revenge against Harley Quinn.
In a statement shared in Variety by Executive Vice President of Alternative Programming at Warner Bros. Animation Peter Girardi, this season will be the biggest swing by the studio yet.
“‘Harley Quinn’ has raised the comedic crowbar with every new season. We’re excited to continue this partnership with Max and take our biggest swing yet for Season 5.”
Suzanna Makkos, Executive Vice President of Original Comedy and Adult Animation at Max and Adult Swim, also made a comment on the upcoming season to Variety, saying:
“The talented ‘Harley Quinn’ team has once again succeeded in delivering a season that builds on everything that has come before while still feeling fresh and inventive. They continue to provide hilarious, heartwarming, and deranged stories with our lovable group of DC misfits, and we couldn’t be more excited for the fans to see what they’ve accomplished in Season 5.”
So far, it has not been confirmed when exactly Season 5 is slated to come out. However, season 3 and season 4 of Harley Quinn premiered in July, so season 5 is expected to come out in July 2024 as well.
3. Suicide Squad: Isekai
What can be better than a DC animated show? It’s probably a DC anime. Warner Bros. Japan and WIT Studio will be collaborating on this thrilling project to bring it to life. It would take the popular characters from the Suicide Squad to the realm of Isekai. DC announced a teaser trailer at the Anime Expo in July 2023, and it gave a tantalizing glimpse of what was to come.

Harley Quinn and the Joker will be taking center stage as they go on a rampage through the city. Be it giant tanks or gargantuan dragons, nothing is too crazy when it comes to Suicide Squad: Isekai. In December 2023, the official trailer was released, and it teased the appearance of many new and existing Task Force X members, including King Shark, Peacemaker, and Clayface.
Isekai directly translates to another world or other realm. Although no plot detail is available yet, given the nature of the genre, it can be presumed that the Clown Prince of Crime and Harley Quinn might be transported into a magical otherworldly realm where the Suicide Squad will go to bring them back. One has to quickly adapt to the Isekai realm; otherwise, they do not have a chance of survival, so it would be interesting to see how both parties navigate that.
Suicide Squad: Isekai is supposed to come out in 2024, but no specific release date is known as of now.
4. Kite Man: Hell Yeah!
One of the characters that is going to take the frontline in DC’s new era in the animated series is Kite Man- Poison Ivy’s old flame. It is a spin-off of Kaley Cuoco’s Harley Quinn and is quite a surprising entry to the list.
However, one has to admit that even though Kite Man was introduced as a brainless jock in the show, he actually turned out to be someone with a lot of depth and personality. The show’s investment in Kite Man did not go to waste, as it turned him into a fan favorite pretty soon, spawning this spin-off.
The first teaser trailer released in September 2023 showed Kite Man lamenting not being able to rise through the ranks of Gotham City criminals and become the world’s biggest supervillain. The rest of it shows Kite Man reuniting with many characters from the Harley Quinn universe, like his girlfriend Golden Glider, his supervillain colleague Bane, and Harley Quinn herself. There was no animosity between Quinn and Kite Man.
Although it is a spin-off of Harley Quinn, the storyboard artist and comic author Christopher Jones revealed to The Direct that Kite Man: Hell Yeah! will be unique in its own way.
“It is very similar [to] ‘Harley Quinn’ [in] a lot of ways, but it’s focusing on a different group of core characters, even though you are certainly going to see some familiar faces. But because we’re focusing on different characters, some of the humor and tone is a little different, just because you’re- you’re immersed in stories that are about these people, and not Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy.”

The show will come out sometime in 2024.
5. My Adventures with Superman season 2
One of the highly-rated DC animated series, My Adventures with Superman season 2, is coming out in 2024. The coming-of-age story surrounding Superman has already created a lot of fans all over the world.
Not much is known about the upcoming season yet. However, during an interview with Superman Homepage, Josephine Campbell teased that the next season is going to blow everyone’s mind:
“Stay tuned for Season 2. We got the the wonderful task of being able to make them both around the same time and I’m very excited for this. There’s so much stuff in Season 2 that I think is gonna blow people’s minds. So yeah, just stay tuned, keep watching.”
Adult Swim and Max ordered two seasons of the show almost immediately after the first episode was aired, so it can be seen as an admirable achievement already. Fans can’t wait to see what the show brings next in season 2.
All of these shows have the fans hyped for 2024. Whether DC takes over Marvel with their new era remains to be seen. However, it promises some good content spread throughout the next year.
