Avengers: Endgame had a very bittersweet ending, all things considered. While Tony Stark’s death made everyone’s eyes water but Captain America’s ending was poignant as well.

In the aftermath of Thanos’ defeat, Falcon lamented that he was one living in a world without a Captain America. So Steve decided that it was time to give the world a Captain America again and passed on his iconic shield to Sam Wilson. As a result, the Marvel Cinematic Universe will soon be introducing Sam Wilson as the new Captain America. He will be starring in the upcoming Disney+ series titled The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. But what will the show be about? According to writer Marc Bernardin, there will be some friction between Falcon and the United States government.

While nothing much has been revealed about the project, but writer Marc Bernardin has revealed some interesting new information about the premise of the upcoming Falcon and Winter Soldier series.

While chatting with Kevin Smith on Fatman Beyond, he talked about Sam Wilson’s new role. He said:

“The government doesn’t want Sam Wilson to be Captain America”

While this statement did shock Smith, but despite Bernardin’s apparent certainty, he did not reveal his source of information. He just indicated that he had read it somewhere.

Turning to the source material comics- even there Falcon is given permission to don the costume and shield of Captain America by an elderly Steve Rogers. It isn’t until much later, when Rogers returns in his prime, that the United States itself seems to turn against him and demand that he abandon the mantle of Captain America. Even then, this demand is made by the public.

So if what Bernardin says is true then the upcoming Disney+ series revolving around Falcon and the Winter Soldier will be introducing something very unique to Falcon’s story. But for now, it’s better that you take this news with a pinch of salt.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will star Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan. It will be directed by Kari Skogland and will be released on Disney+. The series will hit the streaming service in fall 2020.
