A new piece of What If…? fan art imagines a live-action team-up between Captain Carter (Atwell) and Captain America (Evans). The fan art was inspired by the series What If…? which is based on the comics by the same name. The MCU’s first animated series on Disney+ showed in season 1 what could have happened if Captain Cater; a version of Peggy Carter received the super-soldier serum instead of Steve Rogers. Captain Carter plays exactly the same as The First Avenger and Steve is Peggy’s love interest throughout.
The final episode of What If…? season 1 made us witness The Watcher break his oath of non-interference.
He did it in order to assemble the Guardians of the Multiverse hoping that they would help in stopping the Infinity Stone-powered Ultron by combatting him. In the finale which is named, “What If… The Watcher Broke His Oath?”, The Watcher along with the help of Doctor Strange Supreme manages to round up Captain Peggy Carter, T’Challa’s Star-Lord, Party Thor, Black Widow, Killmonger, and Gamora.
Just before the climactic battle of the season, Doctor Strange revealed to Captain Carter that in his universe, Steve Rogers went on to become the Captain America to which Peggy replied it would be a “sight to see”.
The very talented digital artist @artoftimetravel on Instagram saw this as a perfect opportunity and shared some art imagining a real-life Captain Carter and Captain America team-up. This spectacular piece shows both the characters wearing their 21st-century stealth suits and wielding their respective shields. Both of them are representing the United Kingdom and the United States. The background of the same shows the fated dance in Avengers: Endgame and juxtaposing the hypothetical timeline of What If…? against the actual events of MCU

In the post-credits of the series, Peggy returned to the Lemurian Star, parallel to the MCU’s narrative and the beginning of Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Just like Steve, Peggy’s sacrifice at the end of What If…? sent her from 1942 to the modern world 70 years later. And she lost her chance to dance with him too.
But she and Black Widow find Steve’s frozen Hydra Stomper with someone inside, suggesting that Steve could inherit the powers of Winter soldier/ bucky from the main arc. If this is true, they would have a reunion in season 2 but not a romantic one.
