Floyd Mayweather Pays More Tax Than Tom Holland’s Spider-Man Salary
Popular boxer and sportsman Floyd Mayweather has often been part of the highest-paid athletes in the world list. His earnings include both salaries as a professional boxer and in endorsements that he does for various brands. A resident of Las Vegas, Nevada, Mayweather’s net worth has exponentially multiplied over the years, keeping him extremely comfortable even after retirement.
How Much Tax Does Floyd Mayweather Pay?
With a massive career earning of over $1 billion, Floyd Mayweather is assuredly one of the richest sportsmen in the world. From his stellar record in the ring to his magnetic personality that makes him shine on screen, Mayweather mints money unlike any other boxer. As of this year, many online reports suggest Mayweather’s net worth stands at about $450 million. He recently took to Instagram to showcase a cheque he signed to pay his taxes for this year. The whopping tax amount paid by Mayweather is about $18 million. The tax amount he paid is usually the salary of celebrities in Hollywood. In the caption of the post, Mayweather expressed,
“Just before I paid that light million and change for that little Super Bowl stuff, I had to pay the IRS aka Uncle Sam $18,047,181. This is what I owed in taxes while I’m retired so just imagine what I was paying when I was activated.”
It comes as no surprise that Mayweather’s accumulative wealth for the last decade stood at $915 million, surpassing massively popular sportsmen including Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, and Roger Federer, according to Forbes. The bigger the boxer he fights, the more amount of money he charges. So, having boxed against the who’s who of the professional boxing world, Mayweather has topped the earnings chart and become one of the highest-paid athletes in the world.

Tom Holland’s Spider-Man Salary
While Marvel is an ever-growing universe of movies and an exceptionally successful studio, its salaries don’t compare to what the sportsmen earn. Even though Tom Holland is the youngest actor to play a lead role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and sign a multi-movie deal, his salary does not even come close to the taxes paid by Mayweather this year. Holland’s net worth has certainly gone up a notch. His first role in the MCU got him $250,000, while after a renegotiation, he made $10 million for his latest solo Spider-Man movie, as reported by The Sun.
In comparison to Mayweather’s $18 million in taxes, Holland’s $10 million salary seems meager. However, the comparison also lies in the time and effort sportsmen and actors put into their work. For example, boxers like Mayweather put their health in danger by fighting a deadly match in the ring that can harm them severely. Whereas actors have stuntmen and are protected in dangerous situations while on set.
On top of that, boxers are known to make millions off of one single fight that is over within a few hours, whereas actors charge millions for a movie that takes months to shoot. Comparing their salaries will be like weighing apples to oranges, but it does show a stark difference between how celebrities are paid and how their net worth is accumulated.
