Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End: Himmel Wasn’t the Warrior That Could Rival Frieren’s Magic, Stark Was
- Himmel is a legendary hero who could defeat the demon lord with his own powers.
- Stark can surpass Himmel, but his cowardice is in his way.
- Both Stark and Himmel are great, but Stark has more raw talent.
There is no doubt that Frieren is one of the most powerful mages within the Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End universe, who was also the strongest in her party. Apart from having an ungodly amount of mana that even rivaled many of the Seven Sages of Destruction, she also has the experience to back up her powers.
Frieren’s involvement contributed heavily to the success of Himmel and her peers in defeating the demon lord. Had she not been involved, there was a high chance the party would have never been able to achieve its goals.
In such a scenario, one can wonder whether Himmel or even Stark is on par with our protagonist. Though there is a legitimate doubt behind Himmel’s capabilities, Stark’s strength might be closer to Frieren’s level.
Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End’s self-made hero
Himmel was more than just an amiable man with a penchant for joking around with Frieren. He had an unwavering dedication and possessed strong morals that led him to decide to become a hero.
However, what sets him apart from everyone else is the fact that despite not being the chosen one, he still managed to make a name for himself. The Sword of the Hero, the legendary blade that is supposed to drive away the great calamity, can only be drawn by the original hero.

Himmel tried his luck with it but never managed to pull it out. That obviously did not stop him from defeating the demon Lord with just a fake replica of the original sword. Apart from that, he was also an incredible swordsman who killed a dungeon monster with a single strike.
Even though he might not be as powerful as Frieren, we cannot discard the other qualities that make him a hero in his own right.
Stark is more capable than he lets on
Stark is clearly one of the most qualified to have the potential to match Frieren amongst any humans. Trained under the legendary Eisen of the Hero party, Stark shows remarkable capabilities to the point of scaring his own master.
He is so impressive that he is the only one who was kind of able to solo a dragon, which even two very powerful mages cannot achieve. Stark’s powers even get noticed by seasoned fighters like Eisen, who would often willingly offer to train him.
However, his biggest enemy is his own lack of confidence. Even though he has worked relentlessly over the years to become a legendary fighter, he is a major coward who is scared of monsters. He would also be inclined to run from a battlefield but, thankfully, would stop himself from committing such an act.

If he can reign over his weaknesses, there is no doubt he can be stronger than Himmel. There is also speculation that he might be the hero who could pull out the legendary sword, but that is something that only the future can tell.
Though both of them are great in their respective fields, Stark has an edge when it comes to raw talent. He just lacks proper experience on the battlefield and the nerves to truly surpass Himmel. But once he does that, it is set in stone that only the sky will be the limit for him.
