Jujutsu Kaisen might be one of the most popular anime and manga currently airing. With hundreds of millions of fans across the world, there is one common thing that JJK fans can come together for. And that is the pain that reading Gege Akutami’s sadistic style of writing had them through.

However, in an alternate universe, Jujutsu Kaisen fans might not have had the opportunity to speak the pen name “Gege Akutami” or even the popular phrase “When I catch you Gege” every time they kill off a beloved character in the series. Initially, the mangaka had a different pen name in mind, and thank the heavens they didn’t go through with it, as it wouldn’t have had the same feel to it.

Jujutsu Kaisen over the past years has had fans grabbing onto the edges of their seats while reading or watching the series due to Gege Akutami’s unpredictability. At this point, fans have gotten used to seeing Gege put the characters (especially Yuji) through hell and back.

A popular YouTube anime content creator by the name of Cedgehog educated fans in a YouTube short, revealing that Gege Akutami had actually planned on keeping his pen name as “Dokudami Milk” during an interview with Mandi Kobayashi. However, they decided to not use it as the Kanji for “Dokudami Milk” was too complicated. and settled for Gege Akutami instead. Fans definitely missed a bullet as “Gege Akutami” has become a name that fans have gotten to love over the years.

Gege Akutami faced some criticism or comparison in the past for his characters being oddly similar to those of Masashi Kishimoto’s Naruto series, given how similar some of the designs of the characters are. Gojo is one of those characters who shares an incredible resemblance to Kakashi Hatake. But Gege Akutami, being the writer that they are, managed to write and draw Gojo Satoru in a way that made his popularity exceed that of the series.

Unfortunately, these superficial similarities had some fans critiquing Gege during the initial months of the series. But now, Jujutsu Kaisen has managed to get fans on board with its incredible yet complex world of sorcerers. It still didn’t spare Gege Akutami from facing some backlash at the beginning of the series, with some even going as far as to call them a lazy writer.

Crazy Jujutsu Kaisen similarities with Naruto that literally EVERYONE noticed!

Both Jujutsu Kaisen and Naruto have managed to make their mark on anime fans across the world. But this doesn’t blow away the fact that the two share shocking similarities with each other. To the point that it has become way too obvious for viewers who watched both series not to notice.

For starters, both the main protagonists of the show, Yuji Itadori, and Naruto Uzumaki, hold incredibly powerful spirits within them. Yuji is the vessel for Sukuna, the King of cursed spirits, and Naruto holds the Nine-Tailed Fox spirit, Kurama.

However, this isn’t all as Gojo and Kakashi are both mentors with white/gray hair, with powerful eyes that drain too much of their Cursed Energy or Chakra if left unchecked. Not only that but Yuji, Magumi, and Nobara share a striking characteristic with the original team 7 members early on in the series.

Anime fans have even termed Jujutsu Kaisen to be this darker and more sinister copy of Naruto. However, that would be selling both Kishimoto and Akutami’s artistic talents as well as their series short. Despite the superficial similarities, both series are incredibly well-written with completely different themes.

You can stream Jujutsu Kaisen on Crunchyroll, Netflix, and Hulu. For Naruto, you can use Netflix and Crunchyroll.
