The legendary director of Studio Ghibli isn’t showing any signs of putting his pen down. Junichi Nishioka, the studio’s vice president for international distribution, is positive that Miyazaki is surely going to bring more to the table. In an interview, Nishioka said (via The Japan Times):

For the last 20 years, after finishing a movie, he would say I’m done… but this time, he didn’t mention anything about retirement.

Nishioka further added that although Miyazaki hasn’t confirmed anything regarding his next release, something is brewing in his mind as he is always inside the studio. After making The Boy and the Heron, Miyazaki is already being decorated with loads of love from the audiences, and that’s probably the driving force for him to continue what he is an ace at.

Fans can probably be optimistic about another masterpiece from the 83-year-old director that can blow everyone’s mind again. Keeping in mind the fact that Miyazaki visits the studio frequently, the next project might not be too far away.
