There were some smashing hits for both actors and directors in 2023. From Oppenheimer and Barbie to Maestro and Poor Things, the movies made a significant impact on the viewers and collected billions at the box office. Now that the award ceremonies have begun, the celebrities reap the benefits of their hard work and receive widespread appreciation for their skills.

In the Best Actor in Drama category, Cillian Murphy emerged victorious over Barry Keoghan, Leonardo DiCaprio, Andrew Scott, Colman Domingo and Bradley Cooper. Some of the most exceptional actors were up for the awards but most people agree Murphy deserved to win for his outstanding performance as J. Robert Oppenheimer. However, Cooper seems to believe otherwise, as depicted in his reaction. Fans have claimed that he is seen crying on the inside and hence began the barrage of memes and comments on the same.

Many fans have commented on how Cooper’s eagerness to win the award made him give excessive interviews and emphasize the long process of his preparation and shoot schedule. Most people did not even know about Maestro until they saw Bradley Cooper’s nomination for the movie. Hence, it shows that the flick did not do well in spreading awareness and marketing the movie to the masses.

While everyone in the industry seems incredibly happy for Murphy for his huge win and commending his hard work, Cooper seems to be heartbroken over his loss. A couple of weeks ago, he made headlines for throwing shade at Murphy who said he began shooting for Oppenheimer mere six months after getting cast as the titular protagonist. In the Variety Actors on Actors show with Emma Stone, Cooper expressed how it took him years to prepare for the role. He said,

“I feel like you couldn’t have made Poor Things if you didn’t have a tremendous amount of prep, and it’s the same thing with Maestro. This wasn’t like you got a call, and in six months you’re going to do it. This had to have taken years.”

Many users have pointed out that this seems to be a sly dig at Murphy and his experience with playing Oppenheimer. They also compared the two actors based on their PR and the way the viewers perceive them. Cooper tries hard to form an impactful PR strategy while Murphy lets his work speak for itself. The world can clearly see which strategy works best based on the outcome achieved.
