- Tom Hiddleston recalls a brush in with law at Central Park, New York City.
- He has been playing Loki for over 14 years now.
- Hiddleston will next be seen in Tenzing and more seasons of The Night Manager.
Tom Hiddleston, having played Loki for over 14 years, loved portraying the character in the Marvel movies and shows. He’s the reason the Norse God is now a pop culture icon with fans wanting to be as suave and charming as Loki. In fact, not just human fans, but there tend to be a lot of dogs named Loki, given their mischievous and fun nature.
Moreover, he never expected to be called by his Marvel character’s name in a park in New York City, and that too by a police offer. The actor recently recounted a brush-in with the law while he was walking his dog one morning in the popular Central Park.
Tom Hiddleston recalls brush in with the law at Central Park
In an interview with talk show host Jimmy Kimmel, Tom Hiddleston recalled a hilarious incident that could have had disastrous consequences for both him and his dog. While walking his pet dog in Central Park in New York City some time back, Hiddleston had his dog off the leash. A police officer came up behind him and asked him to put his dog on a leash. The actor shared,
I hear this whoop whoop behind me and I’m like what’s going on I turn around and this very distinguished New York police officer is winding down the window of his car and he goes, “Hey Loki, put your dog on a leash it’s after nine.”
Hiddleston explained to Kimmel that the off-leash hours at Central Park are between 6 am and 9 am. He further said that he was on call with someone in London and hence, lost track of time. In New York, a person can be fined or worse for walking their dog without a leash outside of the permitted timings. However, Hiddleston was let go with just a warning.
No celebrity is above the law and Hiddleston learned his lesson henceforth. He further shared that even though he has not met a lot of people named Loki, he sure has come across many pet dogs named Loki.
The actor finds it entirely amusing how people choose to name their dog after the God of Mischief and chaos, and after everything Loki has done in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Eventually, his streak of misguided choices come to an end in Loki season 2, offering satisfying closure to fans.
Tom Hiddleston’s Upcoming Projects
The actor is unsure whether he will be seen in more Marvel projects as Loki in the future. Nonetheless, he is very satisfied with how the show wrapped things up and gave a conclusive ending to his character. At the same time, many fans feel that Loki being in charge of the timelines now makes him a central character in the war against Kang and the multiversal war. We are yet to see if Hiddleston returns as Loki in the upcoming Avengers movies.
Apart from that, Hiddleston will next be seen in the movie Tenzing as Edmund Hillary. The story is based on real-life events when Hillary and Sherpa Tenzing Norgay scaled Mount Everest back in 1953. It’s going to be a grueling experience for all the actors involved as the movie will try to emulate real life as far as possible. It looks like Hiddleston’s schedule is packed for the next few years as he is also set to return in and as The Night Manager for seasons 2 and 3. Filming for the next seasons will begin in the next couple of months.
