House of the Dragon Swiftly Strikes Down 1 Long-standing Daenerys Theory With a Major Connection to Dragon Queen Rhaenyra
House of the Dragon season 2 is gradually gaining speed. The plot is becoming swifter and moving towards the big reveal, or let’s say the big battle that will leave Westeros in shreds. The Targaryen Civil War is one of the biggest turning points in the House’s history, where Aegon II and Rhaenyra fight tooth and nail to establish their claim to the Iron Throne.
The latest episode of House of the Dragon season 2 established another link to its chronological sequel Game of Thrones. But it does disrupt one long-standing theory that fans have believed in so far.
Where did Daenerys’s Eggs come from?
In Game of Thrones, Daenerys Targaryen receives three eggs from Master Illyrio Mopatis after she marries Khal Drogo. The wedding present turns out to be three dragons that later hatch with Daenerys’s intense love and care. People had thought dragons to have gone extinct with the Targaryen line lost. However, like a phoenix from the ashes, Daenerys ignites the hope for the Kingdom to have a Targaryen ruler yet again.
The theory of Daenerys’s eggs states that a noblewoman called Elissa Farman stole three eggs from Dragonstone to get money to sail across the world. This was over two centuries before Daenerys came into the picture. However, according to House of the Dragon season 2 episode 3, we see Rhaenyra handing 4 dragon eggs to her stepdaughter Rhaena Targaryen along with her young toddlers to sail away to Vale. She does so to protect them from harm in case they lose the upcoming war.
Rhaenyra particularly states that if something happens to them, the eggs and the kids will be the bright future of House Targaryen and keep the dynasty alive. This is a very powerful statement, a sort of potential foreshadowing for the future as Daeneyrs’s eggs truly represent the lost hope for the Targaryen House and spark a new beginning. Moreover, the Farman theory posits that the eggs were from Dreamfyre, but since Rhaenyra gives them to Rhaena in the prequel show, they might actually belong to Rhaenyra’s dragon Sunfyre.
House of the Dragon renewed for Season 3
The enigmatic and thrilling HBO prequel series has officially been greenlit for a third season. Although the news is not surprising since House of the Dragon is currently one of the top-rated properties of Max, the streamer platform wants to keep the show going. The second season of the show is primarily focusing on the epic Dance of the Dragons event where the Green and Black factions go toe to toe in order to claim their supposed birthright.
House of the Dragon season 3 possibly begins filming soon and only after the second season ends will we be able to tell what aspects are going to be featured in the next season. Given the vast expanse of the show and the narrative, it’s possible that House of the Dragon season 3 will take longer to film and premiere.
House of the Dragon season 2 is releasing weekly episodes on Max.
