How ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’ Finally Gave Justice to ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D’ – Something MCU Couldn’t Do
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse has been one of the most successful movies of 2023. The highly anticipated sequel of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse returned with its regular cast including Shameik Moore as Miles Morales, Hailee Steinfeld as Gwen Stacy, and Jake Johnson as Peter B. Parker. The sequel even added new characters to the franchise like Miguel O’Hara (Oscar Isaac), Jessica Drew (Issa Rae), Spider-Man India (Karan Soni), and Spider-Punk (Daniel Kaluuya).
The animated film had a successful run at the box office and was called one of the best Spider-Man films by fans giving Marvel a major setback. Marvle’s fans instantly shifted to the animated version after the new movie dropped. The film managed to include an article by Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, giving the series the necessary recognition that the MCU failed to give, adding one more element for the fans to love Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse pays tribute to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, the much-awaited animated film, has opened with outstanding reviews. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, the sequel, made $51.75 million on its first day and is still performing brilliantly at the box office. The film, with the old cast, added new characters including Miguel O’Hara (Oscar Isaac), Jessica Drew (Issa Rae), Spider-Man India (Karan Soni), and Spider-Punk (Daniel Kaluuya).
The film crossed Marvel’s record by hitting the $500 Million milestone. Fans turned to the animated film and called Miles Morales’s Spider-Man one of the best, giving Marvel a major shock.
The MCU franchise received another shock when Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse provided Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. the justice that they failed to give. In the film, a scene when Spider-Man swings from a building shows an inside of a house that has an article from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. featuring Daisy Johnson.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, the longest-running television program in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, ended after its seventh season. The first MCU spinoff television series was released by Marvel Television in 2013. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D was almost canceled by ABC after season 4, but Disney allegedly requested them to continue it for a fifth season. In the end, Marvel decided to scrap the series after its seventh season.
A threequel is planned for the Spider-Verse franchise
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse opened on a big note. The highly anticipated sequel of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse set the tone of the franchise that will add one more movie. After the successful run of the latest Spider-Verse film and the conclusion promising another significant fight for Miles Morales Spider-Man.
Beyond the Spider-Verse will indeed be released after the sequel’s finale. The film is slated to release in March 2024, marking a short time for the animated movie. The first film came out in 2018, and fans had to wait for five years for the sequel.
There is not much known about the cast and plot of Beyond the Spider-Verse yet. Shameik Moore and Hailee Steinfeld will return as Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy, respectively, in the movie. They will be accompanied by Daniel Kaluuya as Hobie Brown (Spider-Punk), Oscar Isaac as Miguel O’Hara (Spider-Man 2099), and Issa Rae as Jessica Drew (Spider-Woman).
