Marvel’s What If…? could create a new Marvel Cinematic Universe team. Here is how the Guardians of the Multiverse could form as a result of Ultron’s arrival in Party Thor’s universe.
The new MCU team could form as a result of Ultron’s rise in the latest episode of Marvel’s What If…?. For over a month now, this team has been exploited to various teases and rumors related to the first-ever animated series of Marvel on Disney+ but had no confirmation from the maker’s end. The Guardians of the Multiverse do not exist in the comic world but their name has been buckled for the show. Additionally, a group of heroes has also been spotted fighting against Ultron in the trailers.
As far as the current episodes of What If…? are concerned, every episode has portrayed a new story centering on different realities. Just like the original comic and its connection with the Marvel Universe, each episode of What If…? run with an alternate scenario of events that could have happened in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Due to the primary idea that the show follows, the only link that could exist between all the episodes is Uatu the Watcher. However, the animated series might get diverged from its conventional path in a great way. The ending of What If…? Episode 8 teased a big crossover.
When Ultron appeared in the scene, he is not at all the villain that the Avengers encountered in Avengers: Age of Ultron. He has now taken over the Vision’s body and has also managed to gather all the Infinity Stones. This is what sets him up as a powerful enemy. What’s yet to be discovered is who he is aiming to fight. Ultron’s Arrival Shocked The Watcher
Ultron’s return in the Party Thor’s universe that too with a complete set of Infinity Stones is a bad news, but what’s more intriguing is the Watcher’s reaction. Uatu the Watcher is a cosmic being who could see everything, but he was surprised when Ultron returned with the Infinity Stones. The Watcher did not see him coming and there is surely a likelihood that this version of Ultron has arrived from a different timeline.
The Watcher could take action against Ultron but this could not bring in the heroes who could defeat him. If Party Thor’s universe fails to shape up powerful heroes to fight such battles, Uatu the Watcher will have to approach different timelines. These could bring some central characters of the previous episodes such as Evil Doctor Strange, T’Challa’s Star-Lord, Captain Carter, and Party Thor. The team might also include Gamora and Black Widow as their introduction has not been done yet in What If…?. Thus, after bringing a diverse range of protagonists from every installment of Marvel’s What If…?, the Watcher could assemble them with Party Thor and introduce the Guardians of the Multiverse.
