“I absolutely love that arc”: You May Not Like Zoro Star Mackenyu’s Response to His Favorite One Piece Arc
The era of anime getting a live-action adaptation reached a new high recently with shows like One Piece and Avatar: The Last Airbender getting critical acclaim. Both of these shows and more are gearing up to release more seasons that are set to entertain the fans of manga.
More recently, the Brussels Comic-Con brought together actors and crew from these fan-favorite shows where interesting conversations and revelations took place. Roronoa Zoro actor Mackenyu even revealed the plot arc that he would like to see in the upcoming seasons of One Piece.
Roronoa Zoro actor Mackenyu wants to travel to Dressrosa in One Piece
The popularity of certain story arcs more than others is very common in mangas and anime. Fans love ranking the stories that keep them intrigued. So naturally, when Roronoa Zoro actor Mackenyu was asked about his favorite story arc, fans were sitting on the edge of their seats to see which one he chose out of the over 32 story arcs in the manga. According to a fan who attended the event, the actor said,
I absolutely love that arc… Dressrosa! Oh my God, we need to go up there.

While this may come as great news for fans of the manga, it can also be counterintuitive. For those who donât know, the Dressrosa arc refers to the plot point where the Straw Hat Pirates travel to Dressrosa to fight the ultimate villain Warlord of the Sea Donquixote Doflamingo who also happens to be the nationâs king.
In fansâ rankings of the story arcs too, the Dressrosa arc ranks below average, making it one of the most boring plot points in the show. Moreover, the plot arc covers many instances and happenings that can often be stretched and dragged along. It could be a successful move if the showrunners try to cut down the unnecessary parts and only focus on the arcs that matter.
However, another problem is that this instance happens at a very late stage in the story. So, to get to this story arc in One Piece, the showrunners will have to make many seasons and episodes unless they decide to condense the story in a few minimal seasons. Fans are a bit skeptical about One Piece going on for so many seasons since thereâs a possibility it might lose its charm. On top of that, the most recent Netflix show to get the most number of seasons is Stranger Things, which is wrapping up after 5 seasons.
What will happen in One Piece Season 2?
The live-action anime-based show has had a great run in season 1. After some magnificent adventures, Luffy finds out about the bounty on his head and realizes that he has put his friends in grave danger. Season 2 of One Piece posits that we will see new additions to their pirate team along with furthering their search for treasure.
The showrunners have been pretty excited to get season 2 released as some fan-favorite arcs and characters will be appearing in the upcoming episodes. As the story moves ahead, the danger and tricky situations are bound to go higher in levels, too. Though a release date has not been announced, fans can enjoy a teaser to prepare for what season 2 of One Piece holds.
Season 1 of One Piece is streaming on Netflix.
