However, his infamous fight with James Bond actor Sean Connery put him in the spotlight while they were filming a movie together.

Seagal served as a fight choreographer in one of the James Bond movies, Never Say Never Again, with Sean Connery, and while the two were training for the movie stunts, Steven Seagal accidentally broke his wrist during one of the fight sequences. After the incident, Connery decided to retire from his beloved James Bond role, and the movie marked his last in the commercially successful franchise.

While filming the Never Say Never Again movie, Sean Connery planned to showcase aikido moves in the movie fight sequences. Steven Seagal, an aikido expert, was brought into the project to help the actor with martial arts techniques. However, during the training session, he broke his wrist. The Goldfinger actor narrated the incident in his tell-all interview on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Connery said,

“I got ahold of Steven, and we had this training in the building where I had an apartment, and he was really very, very good and everything. And I got a little cocky because I thought I knew what I was doing because the principle is; it’s defense, so it’s a pyramid, and I got a bit flash.”

While telling about the incident to the audience, Sean Connery raised his hand close to his face and said,

“I did that — and he broke my wrist.”

While the James Bond movie star claimed that Seagal broke his bone, The Patriot movie star recalls the incident in his 2012 interview with Daily Mars.

He said, “I don’t know if I did it; I just trained him.” The 7th-dan black belt in Aikido added, “Maybe it happened, but I think maybe he did it to himself. I didn’t suddenly lose control and break his arm as the rumor says.”
